If anyone had really thought about it, it's ridiculously easy to threaten a narrow waterway with even a small number of flying weapons, and ridiculously difficult to protect it from that one terrorist attack that might sink a tanker which will deter all the other shipping.

Apparently Iran is indefinitely suspending all diplomatic talks because Israel won't stop attacking Hezbollah in Lebanon.

This appears to be causing Trump panic, and Trump is pressuring Israel to include Lebanon in the ceasefire.

It really seems like Iran has the most leverage here, Trump is being so unlike himself and is really trying to cater to Iran. He is acting like he doesn't care if he has to resume combat, but he seems terrified.

Israel will stop bombing Hezbollah. When they decide they have accomplished their mission. As long as Lebanon tacitly allows Hezbollah to lob bombs into Israel I wouldn’t want to be an ‘innocent’ Lebanese civilian In Hezbollah controlled areas.

Causing Trump panic? TDS. He’s not panicking. He’s doing the same stupid stuff he always does. If anything, he may be panicking about his name being removed from the Kennedy center!

Leverage? LOL. The Iranian economy is in tatters. Military shattered. They need OUR permission to send their tankers from THEIR land.
US economy booming. Markets at ATH almost daily. Oh, but I had to pay $40 instead of $33 to fill my tank for the week.

Trump is pushing Netanyaho hard based on leaks, apparently all Beruit strikes were called off a moment ago. Trump is furious that the was is not over, he wants a heroic deal.

For weeks we were told by Trump that Lebanon is firmly not part of the ceasefire. Now Trump is pushing Israel to lump it into the ceasefire while Iran walks away. Who is desperate here?

I don't think you know what "economy booming" means. Our economy is not booming. The markets are good. The cost of goods and affordability are not. The economy is not good by any rational metrics.

That's the bottom line.
The only person being humiliated in this war is Trump
Declared victory. Demanded NATO open the Strait. Tells China he needs billions to open the Strait. Says he doesn't care about the strait. Demands Iran open the Strait. He created a crisis out of nothing. The war is becoming more and more unpopular because the strait remains closed.

There are only 3 fantasy objectives in this war
Change the regime. Total failure
Prevent Iran from enriching Uranium. Total failure
Open the Strait. Total failure
In the end we should just withdraw just like Vietnam

It is not our goal, nor in our best interests, to ‘conquer’ Iran. Just need to insure they do not develop a nuclear weapon. There are 100 million Iranians. They will have to find some leaders internally to overthrow their ‘mullahs’, if that’s what their people actually want. Not our job. We did help by eliminating large swath of them.
As far as the straight, as long as Iran can threaten a single tanker with its bomb laden skiffs, it will be hard to insure safe passage. It may take us inflicting more pain on Iran to accomplish that, but for now we are trying ‘diplomacy’.
