You're such a tool.

Read it and weep.

per google...

"The Trump administration has proposed eliminating funding for the LSC, the largest funder of civil legal aid in the U.S., in its Fiscal Year 2026 budget request. In FY25, LSC received $560 million through a continuing resolution signed by President Trump, which was flat funding from FY24 levels. Defunding LSC would significantly reduce civil legal aid available to low-income Americans, potentially impacting the number of people who can access legal assistance, including for matters where they might otherwise be unable to afford an attorney.
Cuts to other legal aid programs: The Trump administration also partially cut a legal aid program that funds immigration attorneys for individuals facing deportation and deemed mentally incompetent."

My deductive prediction was 100% spot on.

Do you think everyone is as stupid as you?

From their website:

"White House Budget Proposes Eliminating LSC, Defunding Civil Legal Aid for Millions of Low-Income Americans"

If you went to law school you would know that "civil" and "criminal" law are two different things.

The conversation is about CRIMINAL defendants needing public defenders.

What you posted has nothing to do with public defenders.

It was the only reference I found to Trump defunding any legal program; of course I saw it was civil, you moron.

duh

I deduce if he goes after one he's inclined to go after the other.

Then why include it? Because you could not find any evidence of defunding criminal defense. Said defense is a state and county matter anyhow, unless the charges are federal.

All you did was make a jerk out of yourself. Again. Quit mouth breathing and drooling on the keyboard and get some exercise or something.

Yes, I found no evidence one way or the other so I posted the next best thing.

Get over it, fool.

Is that how you handled yourself as a lawyer?

"Well, your honor, I don't have a copy of the contract my client signed. But here is a similar one signed by someone else........"

This latest childish spat is a clear win for AZ. The discussion was directly about criminal defense attorneys. And MrV brought evidence which had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the subject being discussed. Then tried the ‘but you are a fool’ defense when he had no real defense.

By the way, what a miserable job it must be to be a public defender.

Whatever.

Some reports suggest that the Trump administration, during his presidency, sought to reduce federal public defender funding as part of broader spending cuts.

This would likely be part of the administration's policy of generally decreasing the size and scope of the federal government.

According to the American Bar Association, reduced funding for federal public defenders could have significant consequences, potentially leading to staffing shortages, delayed trials, and a strain on the entire criminal justice system.

Any kind of criminal defense. I worked for a title company that sidelined in DUI defense. Sometimes you had a good person just made a mistake. Other times our guy would be saying, "we will try to consolidate your cases, and do not drink before court!"

I think women in particular go into criminal law because they have some notion of "defending the innocent!" Then they get into the business and find who you are dealing with. First, they probably did it or at the least did something. They have a history of bad behavior, they just got caught this time. They are unsavory people you don't want to be around. All that mock court in law school is useless as you have little real defense, only the hope to negotiate a plea.

And, good luck getting paid in most cases.

There was a storyline "LA Law" about the one woman going out on her own. In little time she is forced to defend a guy not a drug kingpin but high up in the business. She knows he is guilty but needs the money.

That whole show is a thread in itself. Gave too many people the wrong idea about lawyer life.

Any criminal defense lawyer with half a brain knows to get the fee, or at least a major part of it, up front. But otherwise, yeah, criminal law doesn't pay well. Most criminals are poor and stupid.

I get they collect upfront. But a million excuses along the way if work goes over retainer. Or you just consult and they never hire. I heard about a traffic stop app lawyers would staff for fee to get leads. Criminal law is as lead driven as pest control. Saul Goodman’s antics to get business at startup are pretty accurate.
