In other news. the drumph admin has decided to impose massive docking fees on Chinese ships, importing or exporting.

This is insane.

Sheer madness, and wholly unnecessary.

History will have a field day...if the Republic survives...

I'm surprised drumph has not been boasting to the world about these proposed fees.

China will not take this lying down. Even besides the enormous hit to consumer prices, they will retaliate much more powerfully that drumph can possibly imagine.

China "will punch back ten times harder" And they can last ten times longer.

Taiwan could soon be the new Ukraine, and the craven cowardly blowhard we elected has shown no guts at all, just hot air.

I still suspect he's a Manchurian candidate, the way he favors Russia over America.

What if he was co-opted as a Russian agent early in life, and with their secret help he built his wealth and is now in position to repay Russia for all they've done for him?

It's coming...civil war.

Favors Russia? How? When?

By stopping the waste we are sending to Ukraine?

I seem to recall him publicly saying he believed Putin over the US intelligence agencies: that's proof enough for me.

Ukraine...he's done nothing...will do nothing...just watch while Kiev burns.

He's openly sung the praises of Putin, a "strong man" he admires.

Yeah and Trump barely seems to believe in democracy in the USA, so no reason he would favor Ukraine over Putin.

Swiss banks say they have seen a surge of interest and business from high-net-worth Americans opening investment accounts in recent months.

“It comes in waves,” said Pierre Gabris, CEO of Alpen Partners International, a Swiss financial consulting firm. “When [former President Barack Obama] was elected we saw a big wave. Then Covid was another wave. Now tariffs are causing a new wave.”

The Dow is down 971 today at the close.

Thanks oaf, your leadership is proving to be like cold water to a man dying of thirst in the desert.

Wait.

I mean it's like a blind man painting with oils, or a man with no arms or legs trying to ride a Penny Farthing / Velocipede.

No metaphor could do it justice.
Maybe, the lunatics that took over the asylum have announced a new refurb and redecorating plan involving the creative spreading of excrement and the burning of their own mattresses. Gotta make it look worse before it looks better, after all.

If the Dow were to go up in drumphs time and down in Biden's term, drumph and his MAGAhats would firmly take credit and assign blame. But drumph and his supporters neither understood, nor give a damn.

"The S&P 500 index, which is considered a benchmark for the broader market’s health, is down 12.3% in 2025. It gained more than 20% in both 2023 and 2024"

READ THAT LAST LINE AGAIN.

But meanwhile, the value of the mighty Dollar has also plunged.
"The U.S. dollar is down a steep 9% for the year when measured against a basket of other currencies, including the euro, Japanese yen, Canadian Dollar and Swiss franc."

Nobody wants to 'buy the US' and nobody wants to lend to you. So you'll have to pay HIGHER interest rates on US bonds.... And eventually on consumer mortgages and debts. Drumph wanting lower rates is a sick joke! He doesn't get to decide. 'The Market' does.

"The dollar began to erode almost immediately in 2025, but those losses have accelerated over the past two months. A weakened dollar means it is more difficult for the U.S. government, businesses and consumers to borrow money at lower rates. It also means less purchasing power for U.S. consumers and the potential for stunted economic growth."

I guess his crowd will only understand when they notice that they cannot afford to eat and heat: When the businesses that the US relies on to pay salaries and dividends, and produce goods, close shop with mass layoffs: When the US is on it's knees and without a friend in the world.

In the United States, the Great Depression began with the Wall Street Crash of October 1929 and then spread worldwide. The nadir came in 1931–1933, and recovery came in 1940. The stock market crash marked the beginning of a decade of high unemployment, famine, poverty, low profits, deflation, plunging farm incomes, and lost opportunities for economic growth as well as for personal advancement. Altogether, there was a general loss of confidence in the economic future.[1]
