Evidently.
I agree.
Yeah, I don't get that. I have to develop a good, hot, blazing rage before I even think about physically hurting someone. Granted this can happen quickly. Still, I only rarely act on it, and never physically. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

Perhaps we could replace the NFL with the NFFL: National Flag Football League ;) Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

It's a culture thing. This is one of the "American Male Athlete". It's been drilled in my head since the age of 6 and carried on well into my twenties. As an 8 year old scared of getting hurt, this is what is taught to be used as your shield. You go out and light someone up. You don't cheat or cheap shot; that's always garbage. But if someone offers themselves up for sacrifice, you end him. You end a guy and he remembers. You end a guy and his whole team sees him gasping for breath, writhing in tears, being carted off the field. They remember. A legend is created and walks before you, protecting you for the rest of the game / the season / your life. The next time he comes around the end and sees you standing there, he doesn't lower his head to run through you. He runs around you, he skips out of bounds, he'll do anything except that thing you don't want him to do - lower his head and bring war to your door. Sure, having a legend has the benefit of intimidation, of winning "the mental game". But as much or more, it's simple self preservation. Create a legend and let it be your shield. I suspect I'm the last of the breed as this was just before all the head injury stuff started to become widely known. I have no idea what they're teaching them now. My kid just turned 6, and I can't wait to find out. Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

But there is someone with his name. Looks real enough. He responds to several posters. Missed him by 15 minutes. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

Quite accomplished, and seems very normal for such an egghead. It's her substantial charm I am picking up on, but not bad looking either. Breaking hearts I bet over at JPL. Erotomania beckons? | odiousgambit Member since: Oct 28, 2012 Threads: 165 Posts: 6376 | I've been pretty good at avoiding the insanity of the 'Christmas before Halloween' that retailers have stooped to, but like thinking you can avoid accidents of the various kinds, sooner or later ... Stopped in a store yesterday just to get birdseed and was accosted by Christmas music of the worst kind. This gives me the worse earworms, especially the reindeer and snowman types. These seem to be favored too. I hate this stuff so bad you'd think I was Muslim or something. Actually, if the decent non-reindeer/snowman type music started around 2-3 days before Christmas, I'd be able to enjoy it. But that is all impossible now. And they wonder why I do my shopping online as much as I possibly can. I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |

| Fleastiff Member since: Oct 27, 2012 Threads: 62 Posts: 7831 | Yeah, it can be real bad. My radio station went to 100 percent Christmas Music from Oldies, my grocery store seems to be Christmas music but for a long time its been Christmas Bell Ringer outside and those can be worse. The one good thing is that with all these decorations going up, I have new landmarks showing me the way to get home if I've had too much "nog" in the Egg Nog. When the Christmas music sounds atleast OdiousGambit can be consoled by his new heart throb. |

Preach! "War on Christmas"? You're damn right there's a war. But it ain't the atheists and other godless heathens. It's Halloween, Thanksgiving, and November. They're pissed off and want their time slot back ;) I think I've got it licked. I only shop online and am mostly a hermit. All music comes from Pandora, so there's no radio. And I don't have TV. I have almost complete control over it now. I did go to the hockey store because I was out of tape, but the hockey store doesn't play music. And I did hear "Christmas songs", but I was at a WWII themed restaurant, so they were all done in instrumental jazz from that period. I can dig that. I'm just tired of being called a humbug. Granted, I used to be. But since the arrival of my son, I've found a new love for the holidays. I'm just pissed the commercial machine continues to attempt to burn me out of the experience before December is even close. No one sings you happy birthday a month before you were born. No one is hiding eggs on February 23rd. Even the biggest of firebugs don't start lighting off rockets until July 3rd, and they're blown out by July 6th. "The Holidays" don't start until 12/21. Winter solstice. Only then is mass music appropriate. Until then, I thinks it's everyone's responsibility to protect all the things that xmas commercialism is stomping all over. It's your duty as an American. 11/10 - USMC Birthday 11/11 - Veteran's Day 11/13 - World Kindness Day 11/~24-26 - Thanksgiving 12/5 - Repeal Day 12/7 - Pearl Harbor Day 12/15 - Bill of Rights Day 12/21 - Forefather's Day 12/23 - Festivus Stop the madness. Keep Christmas where it belongs. (I wonder what life would be like if Xmas was celebrated on Jesus' actual birthday?) Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |
