Blasphemy!!! Any football is better than anything else on the TV box. I love Saturday football and am very sad this is the last week I will have any. What am I supposed to do on a Saturday from 9am to 11pm without football? At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent. |

Watch Basketball. No brain injuries. Been wondering about that Ohio State player that committed suicide. CTE? I would bet they find CTE. The autopsy will be looking for CTE. Its been found in High School players. Any takers on a CTE bet? Even odds. Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

I almost quipped that watching basketball required brain injuries, but as someone one knock away from his 30th concussion, not even I can watch that garbage ;) CTE is a given. No bet. But I am very interested to learn more, as I must surely have it. I definitely have my moments of mania, certainly have moments of depression. Sometimes my eyes weird out, where one will almost be "zoomed in" while the other remains normal. Migraines, strange thoughts, strange dreams... but I can't tell what's normal and what's not. I suppose when I start liking basketball, I'll know there's a serious problem. Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

Well, yes. But the advantage of being atheist is I don't worry about things like that. Or sacrilege, either. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

Why?
Yeah, football will have to change or it will disappear. One proposal I've made is this: do away with the "down by contact" rule. A ball carrier isn't down until he is wrestled to the ground by the defense. That will make hits for the sake of hits all the rarer. Even better, let a player pushed out of bounds return to the game at once, provided he doesn't take more than three steps when out of bounds. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

But guys like me exist. There is nothing sweeter than catching your enemy unawares. Being so completely defense oriented, one of my goals is always to hurt someone (not INJURE, but HURT). And guys who skate with their head down, or are looking behind them while running, or are in mid stumble and unable to cut? O! Heavenly Father, I thank you for this gift. Every one is an opportunity to take a player out of the game for a period of time. I'm damn near drooling just thinking about it. I get your point. But I think you're opening up a replacement opportunity. I'd rather take the big hit I see coming than a small one unawares. Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

I think that is a horrible idea. I think the problem is that the public is just getting to soft. Really, who needs seatbelts, ozone layer, healthy lungs, functioning liver? You people disgust me. I admire the old athletes that were willing to sacrifice for their fans. Guys like Mohamed Ali, Lyle Alzado, Mike Webster, Junior Seau. They should be the idols of all you people. You should all be willing to sacrifice for my greater enjoyment. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent. |

I was a huge Johnny Unitas fan. He was my idol. Talk about a QB that took a huge beating throughout a career. Seeing Johnny at Baltimore events before he died was so sad. A shell of himself. Couldn't even toss a football overhand. Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

Yeah, particularly the old Black Socks who sacrificed so much they couldn't afford laundry soap, or was it perhaps the team owner who was such a skinflint he wouldn't pay to wash their socks? Did Marlboro Man sacrifice his lungs for Smokers Rights? >You should all be willing to sacrifice for my greater enjoyment. Will you hold your thumb up or down for them? |
