I think he might be going for Cuba after doing a fake to Mexico. Then he'll take out the leadership and maybe more except Putin may respond by threatening to drop a nuke on Ukraine. Then we'll have another Bay of pigs crisis.

Then the Apocalypse, because that's how it ends with Trump. Bankrupt or disaster!

Sure, but there's no loyalty among thieves.

Nope. The only one who owns Trump is his giant EGO.

The difficulty in evaluating ANYTHING Trump does is 95+% of Democrats will be against it no matter what. And a large swath of Republicans will be in favor of it no matter what. And the majority of the media might as well be Democrats.

With A LOT of what Trump does, I think we will end up liking the result (Maduro ousted) but not the way it was done (no Congressional consent, done in Venezuela). I wonder how many American citizens are presently in Venezuela?

This ^^^

I see civilians were killed when bombs or rockets were dropped: that is, frankly, inexcusable.

We are not at war with Venezuela, nor have they attacked us.

Sure, I am glad Maduro is no longer running the show, but at what price, now and in the future?

If the guy was a criminal they should handle it like a bounty hunter would, not via major military action.

Why did they attack and blow up military installations?

What was the provocation?

It will be interesting to see if the gov't can prove its case against Maduro in court: hey, I bet Trump won't pardon this one.

Trump keeping great secrecy.

Quote:
When asked on January 4, 2026, if he had spoken to oil firms before the operation took place, Trump replied:
"Yes."
"All of them basically. They want to go in so badly."
"They want to go in. And they’re going to do a great job for the people of Venezuela. And they’re going to represent us well."

I don't remember legal arguments with the nabbing Noriega by H.W. Bush and the deposing of a military junta to reinstall Aristide in Haiti by Clinton ... or the many other interventions the US has undertaken in the Americas. Then there was the brash action of taking out Osama in Pakistan, don't remember any squawks there either.

We learned about the Monroe Doctrine in school but the legality angle was never brought up

OK, I'm examining it for the first time. These complaints have a point, but overall I have decided that all these actions are justified with the possible exception of some of the older and less known interventions, I don't know enough about them. The problem is the lack of other means of getting these things done, if the US doesn't just up and do it it doesn't get done. The UN is useless. If the US won't act, you can even get something like the Rwandan Civil War with nearly a million killed in genocide. In these things absolutely nobody else will step up to the plate unless the US initiates it ... sometimes then others cooperate in it

Let's see some changes with that and maybe I'll buy the arguments which so far seem to revolve a lot about disliking Trump

Pffffft, too many arguments from liking Trump as a leader. (fewer like him as a person, I'll admit).

Big difference in demanding "stop drug trafficking or we'll bomb the shit out you" vs "Give us access to your oil or we'll bomb the shit out of you."
