I think even Obama pointed this one out about steel. Drive by a modernized but older steel mill. Notice how few cars are in the lot. You need so many fewer workers than as late as the 1970s. You can do the same for almost any kind of manufacturing. But it is a good thing as those workers will be able to be paid better. Unions, of course, never learned this.

Automation is one thing but finding gainful employment for a country's population should be high priority for any government.

I note that Trump / MAGA wants to increase the population of the USA: OK, but where will we all find good jobs if robots and AI take our place?

Oh, yesterday I sent an email to Herr Trumpf, telling him what I think he should do, and I got this arrogant, snarky, auto-generated response from the white house:
