Do you understand the difference between being worth something and having liquid cash? I might have $50000 equity in my home that does not mean I have $50000 in cash.

Seriously, learn how finance works.

According to Zillow my house is worth $320,000. Does that mean next time I go to Walmart in the checkout lane I can just take out a picture of my house and show it to the girl and she would say okay, you can go. And yes I know Zillow is very inaccurate, that has nothing to do with the point I'm making.

My favorite laughingstocks are the dipshit libbies out there who see Elon Musk's net worth go up by, say, $10 billion, and they think it's in liquid cash. As if he got a $10 billion paycheck or something. 🤦‍♂️😂😂

Trump is probably going on about Greenland as he's going to say as soon as he takes office we need to "annex" Greenland for national security just as Russia needs that land from Ukraine for national security.

No worries. Republicans would object rollover and comply.

The thing you do not understand about Trump is he's rarely doing the thing that it looks like he's doing. He's the master of the deal so he's also the master of sleight of hand. He would have excelled in the used car business. First and foremost he's a salesman but so are all self made billionaires.

It’s possible for military purposes we want a bigger footprint in Greenland but have been rebuffed. Want to bet whether or not Greenland will happily agree to a big US military base there now?
Canada won’t be the 51st state, but want to bet whether we get some sort of trade concessions that never would have happened under a Harris administration? Want to bet whether Panama now gives better rates to use its Canal?

Can his tactics backfire? Certainly possible. But anyone predicting the final result is guessing.

Greenland has less than 60,000 residents. If the US offered Greenland a payment of $1,000,000 per PERSON, you don’t think they’d vote for it? That’s ‘only’ $60 billion! Musk could buy it himself!

And if Denmark/Greenland tells the incoming President to go pound an iceberg, then what's he going to do? And if they tell him that US security interests would be best served by staying in NATO, working with Denmark and Greenland on increasing US military presence on Greenland, what'll he do?

And what'll he do if Panama says to him that the US pays the same rates as every other country and every other carrier, according to the fee schedule set and nobody is getting a discount nor are being overcharged, and that the U.S. has the permanent right to defend the canal from any threat that might interfere with its continued neutral service to ships of all nations? What'll he do?

And if Canada says that we already renegotiated NAFTA during your first term and we aren't renegotiating again, as a deal's a deal? And if Canada says that you already owe us too much money, and to renegotiate means you pay us in full, or maybe just give us Michigan and call it even? I mean, I'm sure Canada would love to have half control of all the Great Lakes!

If I were the leader of one of these nations, I'd stand pat, stand fast and call his bluff.

But you forget one thing. THE HOUSE IS WORTH THE $320,000! It is part of your net worth, same as Trump's properties are part of his net worth.

MrV can’t sell lemonade on the street corner.

I did when I was a kid.

Also I had a toy roulette wheel and layout that I won money off the neighbor kids with.

I am into money, doc: I am "quite comfortable" after practicing law for forty years: I deign not to disclose my net worth because the jealous joes here would never accept the claim.

As for mortgages...WTF did I say about that?

Oh wait... as for liquidity, of course I understand people often are "property rich and cash poor," but surely he could have mortgaged a property to get the appeal bond money...assuming that all of his properties weren't already fully encumbered / upside down.

No, you don't understand it. That is why it had to be pointed out to you by multiple people here.

What difference does it matter what he used as collateral for the loan? And to show again that you do not understand finance, most properties will have some kind of mortgage on them. Same as how cash-rich corporations do not pay off their bonds early unless it makes huge sense to do so. At that level it is not like you paying off your 72 month car loan early.

Why does it bother you so much that he made himself a billionaire?

I dismissed him as a loudmouth dork before he ran for president, and since then I've come to despise him for his myriad character flaws.

My comments about his wealth are based on my well-grounded skepticism of any claim he makes.

Do you seriously think his current net worth is over a billion?

Bwa ha ha ha... wanna buy a bridge?

Because the media told them that Trump was a buffoon and a moron and buffoons and morons don't make billions of dollars for themselves. So they are perpetually confused about who Trump is because he can't be both a buffoon and a moron and a self-made billionaire. This is why they constantly try and prove somehow that Trump is not really rich, that its all a con game. Some people in the real estate business think that his Mar-A-Lago property alone might be worth a billion dollars. It's gigantic, 58 bedrooms, 33 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces, and three bomb shelters, it sits on a small island with beachfront property on both sides of it owned by Trump. He bought it 40 years ago for 7 million dollars, which doesn't seem very moronic to me.

No one is impressed that Trump convinces willing rubes to buy what he's selling. Rubes always go on about the conman until they figure it out, if they ever do.

Sure he's made money on people who are fool enough to believe in him.

It's hard to believe anyone will still work with him without getting all pay up front.

Fortunately, government workers around him will get a check from the government.

President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday sided with key supporter and billionaire tech CEO Elon Musk in a public dispute over the use of the H-1B visa, saying he fully backs the program for foreign tech workers opposed by some of his supporters.

Trump, who moved to limit the visas' use during his first presidency, told The New York Post on Saturday he was likewise in favor of the visa program.
