If I was in an actual scenario where we needed to get rid of some weight, and I had 10 people and a container of 100 "pre-born" week old frozen embryos that some people call people as the last extra weight, I'd throw out the container. However, if someone on the plane started claiming they were babies, that person needs to jump out instead. And good riddance. I'm happy, and now they're happy to die for their beliefs. Everyone wins.

How about this? Let’s say your daughter saved an egg before she had her ovaries removed due to cancer. And that now fertilized egg is in that container, about to be implanted in her tomorrow. Hopefully to be your only grandchild, as you have no other children. Do you want the embryo thrown overboard or the 88 year old severely demented women?

I hope the lady can fly….

The 88 demented woman is living, breathing and in all respects under the laws of both God and man and nature alive. Of this, there is no doubt.

The fertilized egg is potential life, that under the correct set of circumstances may become life.

I am not willing to sacrifice a life in exchange for potential life. Sometimes, the gods and the fates play unfortunate tricks on us, and don't actually give u what we want.

I'm pretty much going with Geno's answer. I've used this idea before using finances. If I stole SOOPOO'S $10 when he was 10 years old, I don't owe you all you made for the next 40 years from the initial investment. I owe you $10 and maybe a little more for pain and suffering, or inconvenience. I don't owe you "potential" besides that you may be a big loser bankrupting everyone around you. NO guarantee it went well. A baby can be MLK, or the next Hitler.

Of course, I recognize the right to put as much worth on something as someone feels it's worth. You may have what you consider the perfectly matched set of golf clubs you carefully sourced and made custom for you over the years. Whereas your wife might consider them just some convenient object she's going to use to hit you over the head someday (ref: Tiger Woods).

I would value my own future progeny more than others. Given the choice I would throw SOOPOOS embryo family out first, then the old lady and try not to throw my own out at all.

But if there were real world consequences, then I throw SOOPOO embryo out first, then mine, then the old lady. Why. Well, I'm probably going to face at a minimum a manslaughter charge throwing the old lady unless she was legally cleared to be euthanized in that manner.

Your answer is fine for you. Here’s mine. If I have a choice of saving the 88 year old dementia ravaged woman or my daughter’s only embryo, it’s the embryo. If I’m required to actively kill the old lady, I do not.
