I don't know if this is actually in the West Wing though that's the claim. Someone said it actually represents the timeline of the "Decline of the Republican Party"
Although I think that's funny, I already think Reagan is way above Trump, in several areas.

Blocking foreign students from enrolling at Harvard will make us have the best students in America, but not the best students in the world.

It's a fact, we're competing against the world. It's just another stupid move from Trump.

Let them try at a different school then. Harvard has been bringing in bad actors so they lose the ability to bring people in. Maybe they learn but doubtful.

"Bad actors?"

Some students are pro-Palestine, which is fine with me.

Why should the government get involved?

For some stupid reason Trump wants to make us all love Israel and hate Palestine, which is, dare I say it, totally against the prinsiples of freedom of speech and thought this once great country was founded upon.

Good luck with finding cooks, construction workers, landscaping...

You remind me of liberals in the 1850s who said if we free the slaves then who will pick the cotton?

Maybe like, hire AMERICANS? Make it less uncomfortable to do labor vs. lie at home not getting paid.

DING DING DING!!

You've hit upon the crux of the matter, the reason Trump's desire to make America an industrial / manufacturing powerhouse again will fail.

The answer is....us, the American people.

We simply don't want to work as hard AND FOR WAGES COMPARABLE to what offshore workers in developing countries will accept.

What's that you say?

"Enact tariffs to equalize the playing field."

Uh...nope.

The people will not stand for the drastic price increases added to targeted imports, nor accept the shortages and unavailability of products which are not now made in America and cannot be made for some time, given start up issues, funding, and finding suitable workers.

Yes, we once had a country where an unskilled person could get a factory job and afford a house, car, and family, but that ship sailed.

Why?

Because post-WWII the world was on its knees economically, their infrastructure destroyed by war; meanwhile our oceans insulated us; we were King Shit through the latter part of the last century.

But the world has caught up and passed us by.

As they say, "It's a new world."

The political backlash against the republicans will be massive IF the democrats (or better yet, a new party) energize and rally their forces in support of economic sanity.
