But Tesla stock is worth almost half of what it was Jan. 20th: investing $3/4B and then suffering an over $100B loss because of it is not how the smart guys roll.

Yes, but it is still worth 10x of what it was about 5 years ago. I would consider that a successful stock.

I'm not talking about whether Tesla has been a successful stock since its inception, I am commenting upon how it has tanked massively since Elon hitched his wagon to Trump's tarnished star.

How about this simple reason? Biden and his ‘eco lovers’ would subsidize any ‘green company’. Tesla all electric no gas was green, green, green. Trump is pro oil, oil, oil. No surprise Tesla is dropping like a lead weight. Heck, even SOOPOO sold 10% of his shares right before this plummet. (Should have sold all!). I’m ok with my tanking TSLA. It never made sense to me why it was so high.

So my point is it isn’t about Elon ‘hitching his wagon to Trump’, but rather, Trump’s policies being anti-electric, or at least not having tax dollars subsidize them.

Yes, but how much has it increased since Musk tied himself to Tesla and how much has it increased since Trump was President the first time? Picking random samples without the larger context tells nothing.

Point taken, but I already realized the greenies fueled the rise of Tesla by being early adopters. Musk pissed them off when he took X down the MAGA highway and he cut his throat by aligning with Trump, who is the antithesis of the typical Tesla buyer.

Here's a thought experiment for SOOPOO

You live in an upscale neighborhood (Hard to imagine, I know)

You have a neighbor who has lived next to you for 10 years. He has a wife and two kids just above preschool age. He runs or manages some sort of farm labor recruiting business and is very successful. You're friendly with him and he's helped you out with a few things, been a good neighbor, and you know he volunteers time at a boy/girls club in town for a couple hours a week.. His wife's in-laws work at a high-end restaurant in town, and you and your wife got a few free invites for dinner.

You find out he's an illegal alien who entered the country 20 years ago. The kids are citizens the wife isn't. Your wife heard them discussing being afraid of Trump deporting them?

Do you turn him into ICE or not? And why or why not?

Something you said earlier in the thread. "Let’s be clear here. This is where my tax dollars should go on this issue. Someone is here illegally; use the necessary funds to deport them to their home country."

What are the odds Trump pardons SBF
He ripped off billions via FTX
Probably pretty good odds
He just gave Tucker Carlson an interview
Prison officials just punished him with solitary confinement
I think Trump will pardon him

Real world answer. I try and interact with police type authorities as little as possible. Unless this specific individual is a threat to my family I do not call ICE. I have never said there aren’t illegal aliens that work hard. Contribute positively to society. But I stand by my comment that as a country, deporting illegal aliens makes sense. Will there be a specific example that I feel bad about. Of course.

Having lived in Las Vegas I was acquainted with lots of illegal immigrants. The ones I knew were all hard working family types that I had a lot of respect for. I am sure there are many bad ones, but they didn't seem to run in my circles.

I have no real issue with illegals here so long as they obey the law and not use any of the benefits we citizens are eligible for, e.g. public assistance, public school, health care and driver's license.

Work 'em like dogs and treat 'em that way.
