That's big Pharma behind that. Afghanistan is where the drug companies get the vast majority of their opioids from and it has to be protected and controlled or they're screwed. The only way to do that is by giving them money. It's a small investment for what they get back in selling opioids to the public.

I don't understand why he did it. He said he did it to restore American Pride. Since it was never named anything except the Gulf of Mexico how does that restore anything. It's not like it was called the Gulf of America and somebody took it away from us. You can't restore something that was never there to begin with. And the next Democrat president is just going to change it back anyway and think they've accomplished something. The whole thing is ridiculous.

Two things make it easy to change back and forth. Paper maps are practically collector's items. Although people who make globes and also hard board maps have more work to do. And big areas of water don't usually have signage (as far as I know) "Now entering Gulf of Mexico" Welcome!"

Intended show of disrespect. They've shipped tens of millions of illegals and tons of drugs into the US over the past sixty years.

Is there any type of an international body that decides what bodies of water are called. My assumption was that everybody just called it whatever they want.

I think there might be some body at the UN though it might or might not take hold. Who uses the name “Southern Ocean” for example.

I have never heard the term Southern Ocean.
