I just don't like the trend of releasing private conversations once one friend becomes famous.

What's a secret today is information tomorrow. If you don't want someone to repeat something you said, then just keep it a secret. Loose lips sink ships.

The name of this thread is the perfect counter to the CommieLa BS
The person that hates the thread name throws out CommieLa all the time
You can dish it out but can't take it

Do you think everyone that is gay and married needs to bow at the Democrat alter? That is just silly.

Absolutely
Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz are among the 36 senators who voted against a bill to protect interracial and same-sex marriage.
The 1st 10 years of my life, my parents marriage was considered illegal in some states because it was interracial
Republicans overall are still against gay
Kim Davis who refused as clerk to issue a marriage license for gays still has a lot of right wing support

It depends, there are some situations where privacy is implied.

As I often told people in my IT management job, don't post something if you don't want it seen. In the electronic world, nothing is private. People thought PM's were actually private. LOL, we periodically did spot checks of conversations and did have a mandatory reporters responsibility to report posts on outright threats of violence, insurrection, terrorism, etc.

You did have to sign an acknowledgement form attesting to the fact that the company had the right to see anything and everything
the company computers/ipads/phones etc. were used for.

You want privacy, only send it to close friends and hope they remain close friends, and for gods sake, stay away from Facebook. Lol.

I don't agree with that analogy because nothing is private at work (PMs, emails, texts on work phones, calls, etc....) that is well known, management and IT constantly reviews all emails and PMs, texts, etc....

But, this was a personal correspondence between two old friends that the other friend leaked. This is implied to be private. He did send it to a close friend (at least I would presume so, if they knew each other for decades and have been roommates.)

I am well aware he has the legal right to release the texts. That is not the nature of my argument. I am just contending that it is a crappy thing to do. He was not talking about illegal activity or anything that would warrant public release, he was just ranting about his thoughts on various politicians, something I am sure we all do via text to our close friends.

It's a crappy thing to do, but we live in a world of crappy things. That's why if you send it to a close friend, you had better hope they remain close friends.

Loose lips sink ships. If you want something to be a secret, an actual secret never revealed to anyone, the only real way to ensure that is to just take it to the grave. Even the Fidelius Charm from Harry Potter isn't good enough.

Yeah, but that kind of defeats the point of interactions.

JD Vance allegedly having sex with couches is weird, but it's not as if he allegedly had sex with underaged girls or boys. 💡 And besides, BILLIONS of people technically have sex with their beds and they don't get judged for that. A couch and a bed are both furniture. 💡
Alec Baldwin's gun should have been CGI. Would have prevented the tragedy. Facts.
