Geno might have an expert opinion on a related question. I think the problem they had with designer drugs, (nickname bathsalts and perhaps other nicks) is they did things backwards. A new variation of a drug was not illegal. What they need to do with assault weapons ban is identify all the legal configurations, and anything modified in an unapproved manner is illegal.

And that's how you ban certain weapons. You don't try to figure out all the variations possible, you just identify the allowable variations and all else is illegal. Same with designer drugs. Any variation from a legal drug is illegal.

Lee Harvey Oswald had a bolt action rifle. Many others have killed with long guns that were not semi-automatic. I shoot animals with both bolt action rifles and semi-automatic ones. I need one bullet to kill one thing. If the thing being sought to kill is all that matters, it doesn't take a semi-automatic weapon to do it. Feral pigs need shot as quickly as possible; I only shoot one deer at a time. Both guns have their place in hunting.

Since no one "big" was arrested last time, I'd say Trump has about a 5% probability of winning.

Otherwise, I'd go over 5% probability of Trump winning.

If it were a fair election, I'd guess 78% Electoral College for Trump.

And that's if we have an election, such as in the case of a delay by wartime, Trump assassination, etc.
