recent high school graduate, a local kid

and a bad shot. At 400 ft [acc to NY Post] there should be no missing with a rifle, a rest, and a scope. Evidently fired more than once

Five shots at a stationary target. Only grazed him, but did unalive an innocent bystander and critically injured 2 others. Lee Harvey Oswald he was not.

Guy came from like the next boro over from where I grew up. Call it a "sort of rich kid" place. News says he was registered Republican but donated to at least one liberal cause. Knowing the area I will say it is the kind of place that would be mixed on guns. Some deer hunters and others who supported gun rights and some who would wanted guns banned. The area where the shooting happened would be total gun rights support.

Shot from a football field, including end zones, away. Hit Trump on the ear. The kid was a good shooter, even if he did not know a sniper should aim for the body not the head. That's a long way to shoot from and he is not going to have the sniper rifle and ability to set it up that trained military does.

The nation got lucky yesterday, it could have been a bigger tragedy. I wonder will we start to see these things happen with the POTUS or candidate behind bulletproof glass?
he was not a good shot. This is not a long shot except maybe difficult if you didn't have a rest, or a scope

this could be due to a lot of things, like not sighting in the rifle properly, never practiced with it. Yes, body center mass is a better idea

is 5 shots confirmed?

Er, I'd call it pressure time critical situaiton, not exactly typical for anyone to set up a shot on a slanted roof top at a US President.

could be nervousness made a good shot a bad shot, but at the time he let go 5, if that is right, he was a bad shot then

also, inexperience may have had him shooting high. From high of the target, or low of the target either one, this makes your shot go high. I'm guessing this is a small factor due to how high he was likely to be over the target

if the shots we hear fired are the shooter, rapid firing was stupid too

this is one to listen to only, the guy didn't know where to point the camera

Trump will lead the way to end divisive speech that may lead to cause unstable people to commit violent acts calling out everyone on both sides. He's going to set the example.

Or pigs will fly. I predict pigs flying first.
You had me going there for a moment. I scrolled to see which idiot cult member had posted that before reading the second paragraph.

Perhaps he was cool as a cucumber. Even if I held my breath, my heart pounding would probably cause the end of the rifle barrel to bob up and down.

the first sentence doesn't contradict the second sentence? oh well, here we go, two non-experts going at it. We don't have to beat this to death

Has everyone forgotten about Garfield and McKinley?

I was emphasizing those four men for several reasons.

Trump Beware – This Maybe only the First

Jul 14, 2024
.
.
.
There were two tries against Abraham Lincoln with the second one succeeding.
There were also two attempts against William Howard Taft in 1909 and again in 1910.
There were also two attempts against Franklin Roosevelt.
There were two against Harry Truman as well as against Richard Nixon and George W. Bush.
Gerald Ford had three attempts on his life. Even Jimmy Carter had two attempts.

The record for attempted assassinations is held by Obama, with eight attempts on his life. Even Bill Clinton had five attempts. We must be aware that the Democrats have so polarized this election with hatred that we must be deeply concerned that if Trump is assassinated, this country will be torn apart.

It could have used a "but" in between. Or a butt. : )

You forgot to include Garfield and McKinley, who were assassinated, and Teddy Rossevelt who was shot at a political rally in 1912.

Anytime Biden speaks without faltering, he is reading a script. "Bullseye" was inserted for a reason.

I addressed your first statement already.

Excellent point on your second statement, so I ask:

What about the two following statements by Biden?

Were they also scripted?

Biden skewers gun rights advocates: ‘You need an F-16’ to take on government

“I love these guys who say the Second Amendment is — you know, the tree of liberty is water with the blood of patriots. Well, if [you] want to do that, you want to work against the government, you need an F-16,” Biden mused at a campaign event in California Tuesday.
