I'm a huge music fan So huge, currently shelling out about 500 a weekend for live music That said I think opera sucks I like classical music But I can't stand opera Doesn't do anything for me and I'm a person that finds certain music simply magical Verdi means nothing to me. Scientists estimate that they can live for more than 10,000 years, possibly 15,000 years maximum. One glass sponge observed by researchers in the Ross Sea, a bay of Antarctica, is thought to be the oldest living animal on the planet __ What animal can survive 1,000 years? The tubeworm Escarpia laminata that lives in deep sea cold seeps regularly reaches the age of between 100 and 200 years, with some individuals determined to be more than 300 years old. Some may live for over 1,000 years. I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |

| odiousgambit Member since: Oct 28, 2012 Threads: 165 Posts: 6374 | I had a friend, passed away now, who would organize deep sea fishing expeditions ... about anybody could get seasick on those things, of course. He had an expression for somebody who would get wiped out with it, often such a person was doomed to misery the whole time and even after reaching shore had to wait a good part of an hour or so before he was OK. His expression went 'sometimes the only sure cure for seasickness is dirt' ... meaning, a good time on solid ground I wondered if he borrowed it from someone else , but nothing came up, though spike milliigan quote is similar >>> What is the quote about seasickness? Mark Twain ... “Seasickness: at first you are so sick you are afraid you will die, and then you are so sick you are afraid you won't die.” __ ![]() __ I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |

I heard a DJ yesterday talking about a former actress/model Natasha Kinski as having a natural look before the lip plumping became a thing. I think the problem is other than sometimes being overlarge enhanced lips often don't curve properly like natural lips. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

I don't like this but haven't made a decision about it >>> How do you scare away cowbirds? To keep cowbirds out, NestWatch recommends: Bird feeders that are made for smaller birds that include shorter perches and smaller holes. Avoiding spreading food on the ground for birds and cleaning spilled seed. Avoiding platform trays for feeding. __ Are cowbirds good or bad? Its spread has represented bad news for other songbirds: Cowbirds lay their eggs in nests of other birds. Heavy parasitism by cowbirds has pushed some species to the status of 'endangered' and has probably hurt populations of some others. __ Why are Brown-headed Cowbirds a threat? Originally a bird that followed bison of the Great Plains, the Brown-headed Cowbird spread eastward in the 1800s as forests were cleared. The Brown-headed Cowbird's habit of nest parasitism can threaten species with small populations, such as the endangered Kirtland's Warbler and Black-capped Vireo I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |

I've been wondering about the whole invasive species questions. I assume it was something that happened naturally when a new species got introduced floating on a patch of seaweed, or bird imported pests. Naturally, if you have a big farm community of a certain product when some insect, or animal is introduced, it may wipe out much of your product. So, the cowbird is like that to some species of birds. I don't want to see the last elephant disappear, or the last tiger. But one can also look at the record of evolution and see that these kinds of events happen, though there is presumedly residual genes, perhaps in a related ancestor.
