The strange ones are those that think they will live forever, death is just as natural as birth and there is nothing we can do to stop it. No matter how many supplements you take, how often you go to the gym and how many marathons you run there is well under a 35% chance that you will see 90 let alone 100 years of age. At least one study has found that accepting your mortality is a factor in living longer.

In terms of Federal Government, the Democrats weren't really in a position to do much about it.

If something unfortunate is going on in the country (or state or city, if that level), then the party not in power is going to try to poke holes in what the party in power is doing, or saying, to improve their chances in the next election. Always has been; will always be.

Do you NOT believe that you'll eventually die? By that logic, everyone should kill themselves. It's not a question of desire; it's a question of inevitability. DRich knows that his death is inevitable, so there's no reason to be concerned about it. Once dead, there will be no reason for him to be concerned about anything (including the future of humanity) as there will be no HIM to even have concern.

Nihilism-lite doesn't mean you should just kill yourself. What a fallacy!
