My objection to that premise, is most Christians don't treat improper hetero marriages written in their religious book like they do gay marriages. If they're going to use their religion as their premise, why not follow the same prohibitions about divorce and remarriage right there in the holy book? It's only approved under certain conditions. That's a question of the separation of the religious institution of marriage as opposed to the government institution. From a legal standpoint, the church has exactly nothing to do with whether or not two people can get divorced. I'm certain, depending on the denomination, that there would be many fewer divorces if the church itself had to explicitly approve of them for them to happen.

Divorce is allowed. Remarriage after is when there are issues. Issue back when it was all written was also leaving a woman to become destitute. That one is rarely the case today.

That's not true as a blanket statement. Many denominations only specifically, 'Allow,' (not that they can do anything about it) divorce in event of adultery. Some denominations maintain that there is no acceptable (within the church) grounds for divorce aside from that.

I'd imagine Hollywood, like Oliver Stone, are figuring out we'll go to war under Biden.
