My wife is quite upset with the SC ruling against the gay person on the grounds of free speech. She thinks that now any restaurant or doctor can now refuse to serve a person based on their sexual orientation or religion or race. I thought the ruling was far more narrow. That a person can refuse to do something against THEIR religion. To use the ‘wedding cake’ example…. The baker can refuse to make a cake showing two Ken getting married, but they couldn’t refuse to sell their ‘regular’ cakes to a customer just because the customer is gay. Do I have it right?

I think the ruling allows marriage chapels to reject mix-raced marriages as there is speech involving certifying union of two races. If someone didn't believe in that they can reject it just like they can reject communication (i.e., saying things) indicating certifying agreement of gay marriage unions. If the person has to repeat vows of people joining that he doesn't believe in, he can reject it on those grounds.

Doesn't sound like progress to me. I think we'll just have to wait and see what kind of cases come out of this.

You're not supposed to be able to reject mixed race marriages because race is a protected class of things. Well, they essentially gave the same statis to LBGT. but NOW are not going to treat them like other protected classes.

I'm not sure that's the right interpretation, but that's the best I can figure out so far.

The website developer probably will give nary a blink when divorced people get remarried and didn't follow the strict Biblical approval for it. But gay, no, not allowed.

And let's not talk about the biblical prohibition of onanism...

The way I have heard it you do. It is about individual rights. A website is a custom and usually bid type of job. Anyone who has done this type of work knows that there are certain jobs you just do not want to do. Some you are too busy. Some are not your specialty. Some you just do not want to be associated with. The sad part is we have to make the reason for the exemption religious. You should simply be able to say, "this is not a job I care to do."

It is like when I deal the casino parties. Some I cannot do do not want to do, so I decline. As it should be in a free country.

It very much is. But a person who makes openly racist statements like yourself does not get that.

When I had the cab company I heard black people complain all the time about what white people do to hold them back. This used to puzzle me because in my entire life up until then and even since then I have never had one conversation with a white person about how we should hold black people back. Think about it. Whites on the left have been saying "blacks cannot make it unless we help them" for 60 years now. The lamstream media keeps repeating it. Human nature is at some point to believe what you keep hearing. The ruling this week the same people are saying it over and over and louder and louder. "You cannot make it on your own!"

As Asians and Hispanics keep moving up the income ladder will they blame them as well?

So “The Dukes of Hazard” was racist? Southern rock and country is racist? The flag is about southern heritage, not racism.

You, otoh, are openly embracing racist policies against whites and Asians. You are the racist here not me.
