There's only so much space for the other 17 defendants to try for plea deals and reduced charges. Your deal becomes potentially more worthless the longer you wait while other witnesses jump in. The pressure may crack some others.

As part of her plea she agrees to testify truthfully at the trials of the others indicted, including Trump.

This could be "very interesting," as Colonel Klink was wont to say: I can't wait to hear her testitimony about "a White House meeting she attended in mid-December of 2020 in which prosecutors say ways to influence the outcome of the election were discussed."

I can see it now...

"Yes, that man sitting there (pointing to Trump) suggested we concoct a BS story about election loss and we silly sheep, desperate for power as we were, we stupidly went along with him an plunged headong into the abyss."

Ok, Powell…. If you didn’t agree to testify against Trump, did the prosecutor say he’d go after you and put your ass in jail? Yes! No further questions….

Wouldn’t you say ANYTHING if the decision not to say it meant jail? And OF COURSE there is no way to really know if the testimony is truthful.

Police and DA investigators are somewhat good at their jobs, and have amazing abilities to collect evidence to corroborate testimony. If the deal is she testifies truthfully, you can bet they already have a Sword of Damocles ready to wield in case she doesn't.

As for the insinuation her testimony and guilty plea was unfairly and illegally coerced, prosecutors don't just put people in jail, There are trials, and if you are innocent, you say "Put 12 in the box and let's dance."

When Sidney Powell took the plea deal, every talking head said it was just a matter of time till Ken Chesebro followed suit or he would be absolute toast.

One day later:

BREAKING: Ex-Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro, alleged architect of the “fake electors” plot, has struck a plea deal with prosecutors in Fulton County, Georgia, per source familiar with the arrangement.

Trump probably thought that the plotting and scheming he did with his lawyers could and would never become known, and could not be used against him, due to the well-established rule that communications between a client and his attorney(s) are confidential.

Oops...If a client seeks advice from an attorney to assist with the furtherance of a crime or fraud or the post-commission concealment of the crime or fraud, then the communication is not privileged.

No runners on. One strike. The crowd buys extra popcorn.

Quote:
The judge presiding over Donald Trump’s $250 million civil fraud trial on Friday fined the former president $5,000 and floated the idea of jailing him for defying a partial gag order requiring him to remove a post trashing the judge's law clerk on social media.

Earlier in the day, Judge Arthur Engoron was livid when he revealed that Trump failed to comply with the order and raised the possibility of putting the former president in prison. Engoron said Trump had posted on his social media account “an untrue and disparaging post about my clerk” and that he "ordered him to remove the post immediately and he said he did take it down."

I have no sympathy for any lawyer caught up in all this. While I hold lawyers in high regard, lawyers know what the rules are and know not to break them.
