In the future, all countries have gone bankrupt, and the corporations have bailed them out and now are the government. Inequality is great for some, but for the many who want liberty, they will be willing to do anything to get it back. The original plan was to only go back 6 years, but they went back 65, so complications are many. The first season is available on Netflix and the second season is running now Fridays on Sci-Fi. It's actually a Canadian show first, so it's running on Showcase in Canada, when I don't know. This thread I hope to solve the mysteries of the show if anyone is interested. |

The character of Alec Sadler is particularly interesting since he seems to be trying to atone for his life. Rachel Nichols ( Kiera Cameron) is excellent as the heroine. But she shows signs of actually being a pawn of larger powers, someone who accepts the system on it's own terms and never questions authority. Instead of the obvious trustworthy man in her life, Carlos Fonnegra when she gets lonely she turns to the seemingly morally bankrupt Matthew Kellog |

The idea just came into my head Kiera is there so Alec can find out everything which she knows because she records everything and the future will know it immediately. If I remember right, she has to download her data somewhere or it will be bad for her, but I'm not sure. The idea this loop has been going on for some time may be a possibility and perhaps Alec gains more power each loop. Right now I am guessing at some point Kiera will turn on Alec when she figures this out. How can she do this without eliminating her own existence, puzzling. She has been demonstrated questioning the system many times if you notice, but the rest of the time, business as usual and "ain't nobody got time for that". Scenes which puzzle me. Theseus is sentenced by the Corporate and he says, "That's not the plan. Not him" and Alec Sadler OM(old man) smiles. Was Kagame always the bomber or did he take his place? Did Kagame have to kill himself before he was born to change the future? He did say in one scene speaking with Kellogg when they reunited, he was dealing with more immediate issues which to me was a clue he could not exist in the same time as himself in another space. I should be taking notes lol. |

I don't remember a character named Theseus which I read is an alias for Julian Randol. He appears in the 9 June episode which I haven't seen yet.

1nickelmiracle Member since: Mar 5, 2013 Threads: 24 Posts: 623 | Sorry, didn't know you weren't caught up, but I did have a spoiler tag. As far as I know Theseus and Julian are the same people. I'm just going to keep the whole thread under spoilers, because not many are watching this show it seems based on responses. Hope the ratings are good enough. The first season is on Netflix for those who are interested. About Theseus, it's interesting in S1,E10, at the beginning of the episode, you hear him instructing Kagame, while in the rest of season 1, Kagame is instructing young Julian. This might be a time war. |

So depending on which country you are watching it in, or if you are watching first season on Netflix, everyone is at a different place. |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | I watched the first 3 eps on Netflix last night and it reminded me of a bunch of other scifi shows from years past. The grim cop (does she ever smile?), her Ken Doll counterpart on the real police force, the villains who will go to any length to further their political cause. I don't know if I'll watch anymore, these things usually run out of story lines and start floundering about season 3 or so. You get a blending of good guys and bad guys so you can't tell who's side you're on anymore. The thing now is shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men, where the creators know exactly where the show is going from the pilot on. Its a study of the lead character and how events change them. Breaking Bad especially did this very well. You start out rooting for Walter White and end up hating his guts. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I think SYFY is trying to become a full network like USA channel. But they are aiming a lot lower emotionally than "Breaking Bad and Mad Men". Relatively simple dramas, with a supernatural or science fiction twist. Production budgets are modest. The lineup is almost as good as the company's NBC lineup.
