what is the actual condition of our nuclear forces today, and what do we have to shoot down incoming missiles?

Ukraine populaion peaked in 1993, and has been losing population for 28 years. It currently has one of the lowest fertility rates in the world and virually no immigration.

Reminds me of the film "Children of Men" where the world is struck with the ultimate demographic disaster and vicious global war breaks out instead of cherishing our last century on Earth.

I am not sure how he fixed the demographic crisis, the State is the same (2022 is actually "worse" for those concerned with such things, partly due to so many leaving Russia).

Taking actions that are making young men flee the country in droves is not going to help your population and number of stable families increase.

He has not fixed it, he has lessened it since the late 1990s but only a little. Part of that is getting Russia back on its feet. Another is getting past the WWII "echo wave" of low births, which he will now be re-entering. Russia lost so many men around WWII that they still have low birth waves, if you were a male in the USSR born in 1920 it was something like 80% chance you died before 1945. They will be facing this another 100+ years, though they may die out before it is fixed.

Taking in more population would help things for our time, which is all he can do for the most part.

Yes, but he is (attempting to) annex a country with an even lower birth rate than Russia. And, in so doing he is causing people to flee both countries, making this year possibly the worst in decades for both countries.

He is doing a great job at either scarring away young males or sending them off to die, so if anything he is just going to cause a second wave of the male issue after WWII (especially if this gets even more serious before the end of the year which seems possible).

Putin attempting to annex Ukraine is not solving the population crisis, it is undoing whatever progress he may have made (and its also worsening it for Ukraine).

We actually have lots of missile intercept systems. The question is how good do they work? We probably won't know until we need them.

Their birth rate is not the thing. They have an adult population of similar ethnic makeup of Russia. Both are down the road of demographic disaster, right behind S. Korea and China. The USA is just getting off of the entrance ramp of said road, entering the travel lanes.

I don't understand the obsession with ethnic makeup.

If they are concerned about low birth rates and low projected population (which I don't think is something worth worrying about, but I accept that people do), they should want anyone.
