The list of usual suspects.

Economics is the only profession where someone can be wrong 100% of the time and still win a prize, let alone keep their job.

Stiglitz praised the economic policies of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. 'Continually Mistaken, Chronically Admired'

Banjeree in 2019, said there is no basis to believe corporate tax cuts are good for the economy. Despite the economy already surging after the tax cuts. 'Why Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee is wrong about corporate tax cuts'

Janet Yellen. PhD Yale said in 2021. "The inflation is transitory". Later publicly regretted that statement.

Shiller predicted a market correction in 2014, claiming stocks, bonds and housing were over priced. The Dow went up six straight years after that, for another 12,000 points.

Economists made the same dire predictions about Trump in 2016.

'Trump's policies likely lead to one unavoidable economic reaction: inflation'

'Donald Trump may kill the global recovery'

'Fed, wary of inflation, could lean against Trump tax cut'

What happened between 2017 and 2019?

Real median income increased a record 6.8% and reached an all time high of $68,700 in 2019.

Real median income grew by 7.9 percent for black Americans, 7.1 percent for Hispanic Americans, and 10.6 percent for Asian Americans (see Figure 1). These one-year increases were all record highs, and the new income levels reached in 2019 were all record highs, as well.

The official poverty rate fell to an all-time record low of 10.5 percent in 2019. Over 4 million people were lifted out of poverty between 2018 and 2019 for a 1.3 percentage point decrease. This was the largest reduction in poverty in over 50 years.

The poverty rate fell to an all-time record low for every race and ethnic group in 2019. Notably, the black poverty rate fell below 20 percent for the first time in history.

The 1.2 million black Americans lifted out of poverty since 2016 is also the largest reduction on record—spanning over 50 years—for the first 3 years of any President’s administration.

Children fared even better than the overall population. Child poverty fell to a near 50-year low in 2019, falling by 1.8 percentage points to 14.4 percent. Since 2016, 2.8 million children have been lifted out of poverty, including over 1 million Hispanic children.

This is all due to the Obama economy Trump inherited.
Obama inherited a mess and improved the economy
Trump inherited a great economy and created a mess at the end of 4 years and was fired due to his poor handling of the covid crisis

Yellen is now pretty much acknowledged as a totally partisan hack. Non-partisan economists reflecting back on what she did to Trump right after he was elected ... raising interest rates when the economy didn't call for that ... are really shaking their heads

of course the partisans here won't agree

Kamala is holding a campaign rally in Houston TX on Friday.

Honestly not sure what to make of this.

Everyone knows inflation is transitory (LOL) and the Inflation Reduction Act didn't cause inflation. :)

By the way, didn't Communist Harris cast the tie-breaking vote for the Act?

I think of a tub of water.

If I turn the water on, all the rubber ducky assets rise.

The effective level of existing debt (fiat itself) is the water level.

If I release the water out of the tub, guess what happens to the rubber ducky?

It'd be like the Titanic.

I am not sure it is the best place for her to be but, since abortion is one of the only issues she has a strong hold on in the polls, her visit will be well covered and will be a direct attack against Texas' (and that of other States) abortion policy. She'll have some that has a case for being harmed from it and perhaps a good speech ready.

Everything is covered nationally at this point in the election, so I think that is why the candidates feel free to go to places not necessarily in play.

The Senate seat in Texas is in play as Texas is going through a change with all of the people fleeing California and other states bringing their politics with them. The larger cities are already mostly Democrat; the close suburban counties are split for now but trending Democrat.

My county has a Democrat "County Judge" (not really a judge in the normal sense; just the head of the "Commissioners Court"). He is indicted in a scheme to gain favor in the public eye by claiming racism with some fake accounts by a fellow Democrat. Like most political crimes, it is dumb. He won fair and square and just had to do a good job to keep his office. The trends are swinging to his party.

A "satirical" statue of Trump was mysteriously put in place next to a now iconic statue in downtown Portland last night.

I don’t think Donny’s Nazi rally at MSG is winning over any independents…

Righties will spend tomorrow lying about Donny’s Nazi rally. Overinflating the crowd size, downplaying the absolutely racist vile the speakers spewed, etc.

This pic shows Donny on stage and a whole lotta empty seats as people left early.
