Some folks think respect has to be earned.

I disagree with that.

Every person deserves respect.

However, I wouldn't contribute to someone trying to change sex because it's too risky for the person's well-being.

Nor would I be involved in contributing to pronouns being naturally incorrect because that could harm the person further.

It's just too much risk for me (conscience).

The way I would handle it if required by law, would be to use words that avoid using a pronoun.

The only thing that makes the pronouns difficult is if you have to talk *about* the person. Then you use third person pronouns, which are the problem. If you talk *to* this person, the pronouns are second person [you, your] and you can talk all day. You can be friends.

for such a person, I generally prefer not to talk about them if not in their presence anyway

If I were an alcoholic, I would try to reduce my risk by not going to a bar.

In the sex change context and trapped in the same room, I'd figure out a way to communicate, if I had to use hand motions.

But I wouldn't put my person at risk to contribute to their issue.

If the person needed food to eat, I'd contribute to the person to eat, etc.

If the person was an alcoholic, I wouldn't buy the person alcohol, but would walk them to the store to get food.

New candidate for stupidest post ever. There are places that will escort you out unceremoniously for wearing a MAGA hat. This country is RIFE with anti right bigotry.

That's a bunch of BS
Take the many campgrounds I stay at
It's not anti MAGA
It's no political signs allowed
Here is where the anti Trump bigotry is happening

Ridiculous.

Respect is always EARNED.

I will concede however that every person deserves some form of consideration, i.e. sizing up to see if they're worth spending time with or paying attention to.

It's not ridiculous.

If it were ridiculous, there would be no abortion banning.

I can provide an example:

Say a baby is born.

We make sure the baby is clean and healthy, etc. because we respect the baby.

We'll even get up in the middle of the night to make sure the baby is clean.

So at what point in the person's life, is respect no longer provided but earned?

Now, let's look at it differently.

Say it's your baby and I don't know you.

At what point in the person's life do I begin not to respect your child?

You are just involved in a semantics issue. You can respect someone’s rights without respecting the person. Think Trump as an example for the anti-Trumpers here.

I try to go by the Golden Rule.

Now, if I didn't go by the Golden Rule, what would that say about myself?

Does it imply I don't respect myself?
