I am sorry, but that is a terrible idea. In any relationship that would mean the dominating partner gets two votes.... That would just be the reality.... And, that is not how it should be. |

After thinking about it a bit, I'm gonna say, the government getting into anyone's legal relationship is more wrong than how a couple handles their ballots although both things may be wrong in this case. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

I don't think the government should be involved in a marriage. But, when caught due to an unrelated investigation it should be prosecuted. Now, this (allegedly killing somebody and then filling in their ballot) is an extreme an example. But, how many less extreme examples do you think there are. I would imagine more than a couple people were bullied into voting for Trump by abusive partners. Of course the only way we know this is when unfortunate events happen (like here). But, I would go even further that for in-person voting, only one person should be allowed in the booth at a time. I don't think couple should be allowed to go in together. This gives a potentially abusive party the ability to monitor who the other votes for. Now I am not saying this is a widespread issue. But, I have no doubt that it happens (one party being pressured to vote a way that they do not want). |

Mail-in ballots would sure make such a thing easier, wouldn't they? (I'm still not against mail-in, just that the point is there are ups and downs to everything) "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen..let us give them all they want." William T. Sherman |

| SOOPOO Member since: Feb 19, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 5742 | Of course mail in ballots are more subject to fraud than in person voting. My wife's two daughters are old enough but did not vote. The older one is very interested in politics, and hates pretty much every politician. The younger one does not care about any of it, other than she enjoys making Trump jokes. But had we been automatically mailed ballots for them to fill out, and wifey and I cared enough, we could have easily filled out their ballot without any input from them. Asking them to 'sign this' happens not infrequently here, whether for a bank issue, a health insurance waiver, etc.... The Biden loving wife filling out the form at the same table with her gun toting, beer guzzling, Trumper husband might lead to her being denied her free will to vote as she pleases. In a secure voting booth, he has no power over her. |

Of course you didn't hear about any. There are not enough checks and balances to ever prove it. The reason that in person voting, individual voter booths, signing counterfoils, buying the drunks a drink, and all the other rules were brought in was to prevent the voter fraud that was prevalent. Take these measures away and voter fraud will return as sure as the tide will come in. "but if you make yourselves sheep, the wolves will eat you." Benjamin Franklin |
