He got suspended for two weeks. The official Michigan Board of Canvassers vote was 3-0, with 1 abstention. Maybe there will be an audit. There probably ought to be. Many precincts are "unbalanced" (I think that is the right term) and can not be re-counted because of that. In a closer election, that would be important. It came up 4 years ago when they tried to do a recount, and they are still messing up. They probably ought to be able to do a recount, as long as at the end of the day, the number of "missing" ballots isn't greater than the difference between the two leading candidates. No it is nothing like this. We are in dangerous territory. Trump is actively delegitimizing the results of the election (or attempting to), which is resonating with many of his supporters. Trump is quite possibly (by many rankings by academics/historians of all Presidents, overall popularity, achievements and effectiveness), the worst President in U.S. history (giving James Buchanan a run for his money). I suspect his behavior over the next month will cement his place as easily the worst (refusing the leave the White House) when his term concludes he can more formally be ranked (but its almost certain he will be ranked last or if he is lucky 44/45). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_rankings_of_presidents_of_the_United_States#Scholar_survey_results So we have a President who is empirically either the worst or close to it in history. And, who is refusing to leave while rallying his base that there is a conspiracy against him. There are many examples in history where this goes badly.... The fact that millions of Americans believe Trump that he won the election, shows that there is a cult of personality. There is no logical reason to still support Trump. |

Achievements? You mean like a new NAFTA, peace between Israel and several Arab nations, unwinding us from several wars? Booming economy pre-china virus? Great response to china virus in so many ventalators and PPE? Those things? As to "refusal to leave" he is fighting very widespread voter fraud. A good thing. And yes, we love that he is standing up for himself and us this way. Any liberal has a lot of stones crying about "delegitimizing an election" after years of screaming RUSSIA!RUSSIA!RUSSIA! and Obama actively trying to stage a coup via a fake dossier. War is peace. He is being rated by historians so far as either the worst or close to the worst Presidents (yes many will not formally evaluate him until his term ends, we only have a few). But, its a safe bet that he will be in the bottom two (I would say bottom easily if he continues his behavior over the next month). As for the difference when the Democrats lost, President Obama graciously invited Trump to the White House and began transition to set him up to be successful. Democrats may have cried about Russia, but they still accepted the results and allowed a peaceful transition to take place while the issue was investigated. President Obama did not try to stage a coup that is an absurd claim. He was overly gracious both publicly and behind the scenes with the logistical transition. |
