They need it to move in. Most renters move within 2 years do they will need it again. And they will need it if they change jobs.

Dozens of thing you need an ID for which is why adults will always have one unless they are living totally off the grid.

If you want to stop complaining, make it free like I described. Few people would be filing cases on civil liberties because the judge would be saying thiings like "so, you never had a day in the last year to go get your free ID? Case dismissed!!!"

No need to make it free as people already have state issued ID. What part of that can you not grasp?

I was absolutely blown away this document wasn't good enough upon presentation

If I may, this Certificate is not on the FLA list of voter id documents. That being said, maybe it's time for you to upgrade your DL to a Real ID version, and get yourself a new unepired Passport and Passport card? May make life easier for you, if these kinds of questions are going to keep coming up. May cost you a few hundred dollars, and that may mean one less Dead show at the Sphere if money is tight, but-from personal experience-well worth the payoff in much less aggravation in trying to participate in public life. At least, the distrust racists who are spooked whenever someone who doesn't look or act or think like them tries to do something civic related will get off your back.

So much hate talk I. That last sentence. No need for it.

Reality is though it is good to have a passport no matter what. Best form of ID. And you typically keep it under lock and key so if you lose your DL you have something.

I think this was issued due to the cold war. This is just a year after the Cuban missile crisis and issued by the Justice dept.
I'm fine. I got white star on gold background top right of driver's lisc signifying my driver's lisc is "Real ID".
