Republicans worship Southern slavery and secession. 150 years later they filibuster and seek to overturn Civil Rights laws. Republicans are forging their own racist agenda ans modern history. |

What matters is how current figures are navigating the world. Everyone knows Democrats founded the KKK, and led pro-slavery movements, led the nation in treason, this is not a shock to anyone. Today's Democrats are not the Democrats from 1850. |

The democrats had a corner KKK leader in the senate into the 2000s. The current democrat potus said you had to vote Democrat to be black. They still believe in choosing people for college based on skin color. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Geez. It’s not a complicated point. TODAY. NOW. If there is a member of the KKK and he votes, he ain’t voting for Biden over Trump. The KKK would certainly support Republican candidates at every level over Democrat candidates. NOW. TODAY. Not disputing your last two points. |

Well, not today but in 2004 David Duke had a strong ABB (anyone but Bush) stance. The GOP supports Israel, something that turns the KKK off. The point is that David Duke, a KKK member, was ignored by his party, the Republicans, in the 1980s and basically left in the 1990s. Robert Byrd, a KKK LEADER, was lauded by his party, the Democrats, until his death in the 2000s. Meanwhile the Democrats get all kinds of votes from black groups as racist as the KKK, but that does not bother the libs here or anywhere else. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. No he said you have to vote for him above others (not related to parties) to be black, very poor/cringe language nonetheless, that almost nobody defends. As for college, this is not a major issue. I think most people on the left are against racial quotas, but this is such a nothing. Other than the borderline academic Asian who got turned down a couple of years ago to one of his college of choice, I do not even recall a recent example of this being a huge controversy. But, personally I agree, remove race from college admission, 100% on board with this. I would also argue removing legacy admissions is equally important -possibly more so- (something Republicans seem hesitant to address....) I am guessing you are talking about Byrd when you mention into the 2000s. This is a politician that I have deep disagreements with (probably not for the reasons that you think, in fact my issues with him are where he deviated from Republicans in the early 2000s....) Yes Byrd was racist in his younger years, however, in the years that mattered, he was praised by the NAACP for his voting record. I am sure lots of white males in the 1940s living in rural southern areas, did things they would not be proud of today. My largest issue with Byrd is not his past racism, but his more recent homophobia (fighting hard against current gay rights until sadly recent,) opposing the Vietnam War, and opposing the Iraq liberation. Byrd was a deeply problematic Democrat, but not for the reasons you imply. He was dangerous because he did not believe in the liberation of others in recent times, not because of past affiliations with extremist groups. |

If a conservative had said such a thing we would never hear the end of it. The double standard is clear.
It is major enough that it had to go to SCOTUS multiple times the last 50 years. In about 2002 or 2003 SCOTUS even put an "expiration date" on it. Which SCOTUS actually upheld if not exactly to 20 years. And same whining as we always heard for 50 years. Colleges are trying to find ways around it. Colleges are having segregated commencements for crying out loud. Just more reasons I say young people should skip the swamp that is today's college life.
Again, because he is a Democrat he is forgiven. A conservative "used the 'n' word'" 20 years ago the NAACP wants him banished from public life. But a Democrat gets total forgiveness. The NAACP is a useless special interest group though. I remember some NAACP local officer somewhere accused cops of racism and was proven wrong with bodycam footage. Never saw what happened after. As a group they are the most demanding and condescending people you will ever meet. I worked a banquet of theirs once and the woman who was the manager was in near tears to deal with them as she was called a half-breed the year before. Them liking and approving f you is not a thing to be proud of. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |
