Atheists say there is nothing more to life. That is hollow. Atheist societies tend to be the most repressive or/and in decline. This is a result of hollowness.

To be hollow, something must
have structure on the outside.
Atheism has no structure, if
it does, what is it? Is a non
belief in unicorns hollow?
Not hardly. Atheism is not
a 'thing', it's the lack of a thing.
Like has been said a thousand
times, Christians are atheists
towards the hundreds of other
gods man created, we just add
your god to that list.

As far as atheist societies go,
they are not really atheist as
much as they are anti religion.
Organized religions usually
generate no tax for the state,
and are mostly uncontrollable
by the state. So banning them
is a logical step if you have
a dictatorship in mind.

Atheism is not anti religion,
but some atheists are. It's
a personal preference, like
everything else.

There are no common beliefs or principles to "organize". Atheism is just the aspect of rejecting a beleif in God.

I have several atheist friends and
we rarely discuss atheism. There
is nothing there to discuss. Did
you see a unicorn today? Me
neither. End of discussion.

I knew as soon as Evenbob got involved in this I would have to jump in to point out the inconsistencies. I do recommend we move this to a different thread though.

First of all making a definitive statement that something doesn't exist is making a truth claim. You can say you don't know or you are not convinced or that we can't know, but to say that something doesn't exist is making a truth claim and therefore should not just be supported by nothing. There should be reason and evidence to say something does exist or that it doesn't exist.

To this end the absence of evidence is not proof of absence. Just because you have never seen a unicorn is not evidence that it doesn't exist. The fact that no one has ever seen a unicorn even where they should be is evidence. As is the lack of fossil evidence, etc. So the problem atheism has is that it is making a truth statement with no logic, reason, or evidence to support it.

Just a word about the strange argument that atheists only believe in one less God than religious people do. That is false. The notion of God is shared among all believers and that is at question here not the individual religions conception of God. Remember that atheists are saying there is no God not that any specific religion is wrong. As an atheist you are not saying stamp collecting doesn't exist but that there are no such things as stamps, which everyone knows is not true.

Sorry to inadvertently derail this thread.

Yup, makes sermons a heck of lot shorter.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Am I suppose to be upset, that Yale maybe should change its name?

I'm not.

One atheist's positive assertion, such as Bob's, does not invalidate the lack of belief of other atheists, such as Gander.

I'm in favor of renaming the Everglades after Trump. Trumpland.

Seattle was once rated the best large city to live in America.

Today it has a higher violent crime rate than NYC and LA, and a property crime rate more than three times higher than NYC.

She and the Governor were trying to set up Trump for a Kent State type massacre.

They were hoping he would send in the military.

Once they heard his comments in Tulsa, they knew he wasn’t taking the bait.

"I may be wrong, but it's probably better for us to just watch that disaster."

Trump said the CHOP incident shows "what radical left Democrats will do to our country."
