I do not know what that is. They get reprogramed in college or something. For some reason that kind ends up in visible roles giving the rest of us a bad name. Maybe they just gravitate towards journalism? War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

You can't be serious? A. Not everyone knows. B. It is a mental reminder everytime you engage in an activity declared to be unhealthy that you may be damaging your health. C. Graphic warnings actually accomplish this even better. The same applies to mass events where there is a health risk, the more signage, the better. I think everyone agrees tobacco warning labels save lives, the same for COVID-19 warnings labels (so to speak). |

Yes, I am serious
Not everyone knows? YOU.CAN.NOT.BE.SERIOUS! If you do not know of the dangers of tobacco you are either under 8 years old or so stupid that you cannot read a warning label. In the USA we lasted until the 70s before we had warning labels on everything. Even to the 80s in many respects. But they are in so many places that people ignore them. I doubt tobacco warning labels save lives. People keep starting up smoking and vaping. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Right because there are warning labels to read. If they vanish the next generation of potential tobacco and alcohol users will never see them. And, before you say "well people should pay attention in health class or do their own research " we all know most Americans don't do either .... So yes warning labels are necessary. Also, smoking rates and tobacco sales continue to grow, not in America, but in many developing countries where literacy rates are low (sometimes shockingly low, like 50ish%) so written warnings don't do any good, which is why graphic warnings are good, like black lungs on cigarettes and crashes cars on wine bottles, I think in America we can look foward to a future with improved labeling now that the FDA has control over tobacco products (sadly they don't over alcohol products yet)..... I think graphic warnings are necessary on wine/alcohol bottles and cigarettes.... The point is warnings work, graphic warnings even more so, so we should encourage as much COVID signage and graphics as possible. I love when supermarkets have signs, floor labels, graphics demonstrating distance, etc.... I am very pro signs and warning labels, they save lived and educate people who may not do their own research.... |

What warnings on alcohol? "This product makes an unattractive member of the opposite sex look like a '10.'" "This product makes your voice much louder than normal." Seriously, we are not children. Somehow people managed without these warnings before the 1980s. If you are so unsure ask your mother if it is OK. Most of us are adults who can handle ourselves. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Do you know how many people die each year due to drunk driving? How many due to alcohol poisonings (overdose)? Not counting the injuries and fights that occur due to alcohol related dumb decisions.... Sorry, the data indicates that we do need warning labels. The 1980s is also when many states changed from 18 to 21 for drinking for a strong reason. As for asking parents, that's great, but not everyone has parents who are great role models (I had friends in HS whose parents would literally try to force them to drink and then call them the p-word for not drinking underage, not an exaggeration, at the time I thought it was super cool because my parents were very strict and we thought they were "cool parents" and for obvious reasons liked to hang out at such houses, looking back as an adult I realize how dysfunctional it was for somebody to grow up in the environment where underage drinking and drug use was not only allowed but strong -in some cases very strongly- encouraged.... ). Even in developed countries (America) many people grow up without great role models. And, that is not even getting into countries where people genuinely do not know better due to lack of education and literacy..... Warning labels do not hurt anyone. Nor does signage. People deserve to be reminded if they already know, and educated if they do not. Right now alcohol containers are not even required to post calorie or nutritional data on them (due to the FDA not have jurisdiction, tobacco labels finally became stronger after the FDA was granted powers in the early 2010s, now 30% of the cans or packages must contain warning messages and 30% of displays must contain warning messages, for some reason cigarettes are exempt from this rule and only have a tiny warning on the side of the pack that blends with the branding, ironic that the most dangerous product is exempt from increased warnings....). Same with alcohol warnings, so small that it blends into the design that unless you are looking for it, you will not see it. I think the 30% of packaging for warnings and information is a good rule for all legal drugs (including marijuana if it ever becomes legal), but I know there is push back from wine and beer people who say it will damage the look of the bottle..... For the record I am not for outlawing alcohol or tobacco (or even smoking bans in many cases, except for obvious hazard areas), and want to legalize many drugs, but I think warning labels should be required on legal drugs (which includes alcohol, and tobacco), and age restrictions need to be strictly enforced. Regulation and education will solve many substance issues. The same goes for COVID signage, more education is better. Signs in public places make me feel safer, and save lives, and I know I am not the only one (or else such signs would not exist). I never thought warning labels on tobacco and alcohol and COVID signage would be controversial , but I guess that is the world we live in.... |

Yep, the young guy thinks that the human race can't survive without the government and that only libbies like him can solve the "problem". 🙄 Geez man, the human race has lasted for literally thousands and thousands of years. Anyone with half a brain knows what alcohol and cigarettes can do to you. 🙄🙄 |
