I remember in the early news stages when the press was saying only gay men could catch the disease. I couldn't believe they would even claim that a disease would know if people were gay or not. Press has only gotten worse at splaining the truth.

I don't remember that.
No doubt there were dumb media reports then as there are now with some media recently calling the current virus a hoax
I simply tune out BS media. If there was media saying only gay men could get it, back then I ignored that just as I ignored Fox and Dr Drew saying the the virus is no worse then the flu. From a science standpoint, it made no sense that sexual orientation was the cause of the spread. It did make sense that if people acted in dangerous ways trading body fluids was the way Aids spreads. Its just common sense.
I do remember talking to my uncle the medical Dr back in the day who was alarmed that something was spreading that gave you no immunity. He never mentioned gays. He was just alarmed in general.

Pretty good video regarding a parent concerned with sending her child back to school in this new virus world
Its not left wing or right wing. Its parents looking at the CDC recommendations for schools and looking for new solutions in our new normal.

WTF?

I don't get it. One minute, you want to close down the world until the disease disappears; now you are posting someone looking for the CDC to make changes in their recommendations.

The CDC is worst-casing it, as is mentioned in other posts. The problem is that this will not work in the long term. The 46% of people who said that will home school probably are not going to do it, or will fail miserably at doing what home schooling really takes in order to be effective. Home schooling is something that works, but it is hard work.

Most will probably decide not to home school and will send their kids back to school. Hopefully, school districts will create as safe of an environment as practical. In reality, I agree that these conditions recommended by the CDC are horribly restrictive. There has to be a better way...

Don't put words in my mouth
I have always advocated for doing what it takes TO FLATTEN THE CURVE.
This virus will never disappear. I'm not Trump. HE SAID THE VIRUS WILL DISAPPEAR, NOT ME.
Don't apply Trumps BS to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, perhaps you have not said the "disappear" word but you have been a full advocate of the most restrictive measures suggested by the CDC and railed against people who did not follow them.

The CDC has spoken. They have provided the "best" way that they see forward. Why break with them now?

Chart tracking hospitalizations in Texas:

Not looking too good!

Note: this is hospitalizations, not cases. So increases in the amount of testing being done will not account for the upward trend.

It is exactly what I would have expected. By allowing more freedoms, eg. 'opening the economy', there will be more infections, and thus more hospitalizations. It will happen to some degree everywhere that restrictions are eased. Exactly how many additional deaths occur will be for the history books. As we have talked about before, what number is acceptable? barring the local health care system being overwhelmed, I don't think places re-close down when the spike occurs. I very well could be wrong on that.

Since the relaxation of restrictions they have 100 (6%) more people in hospital. We don't know how much of the increase might be from the protests and not the relaxation of the Covid rules since the date is pretty much the same. What number is acceptable to you? I have no issue with that amount of increase but we don't yet know how high it might go and at some it would be a problem for the hospitals.

Any number is acceptable to me right now. Let the states do what they’re gonna do. I’m ready to get back to life. I’ve got a Vegas trip planned for two weeks from right now. I’m going to fly out and enjoy myself.

If we get to the point where hospitals start getting overwhelmed again, we can reassess then.

Now I am pissed off at you ;-) I am chafing at the bit waiting to go to a casino and your government won't let me cross from Canada yet and casinos are still closed here.
