The Atheist Thread (Long Time Coming)

I've been meaning to start this thread
for a long time. This won't be much of
a post, more to come later. I noticed
this morning that I take somebodies
lord's name in vain a lot. When I'm
alone and ticked off, I say 'Jesus f***'
a lot. I got up and the cats had done
something disgusting and I said in
a loud voice 'Jesus F***!' There are
certain advantages to be an atheist,
like the 10 Suggestions don't apply
to us. lol

Why are the theist religions, Xtionity
and Islam, so threatened by atheists.
The Catholic Church used to sentence
atheists to death, and today being
an atheist is punishable by death
in 13 Muslim countries. In 9 states
of the US, an admitted atheist cannot
hold public office.

Why are people so ill at ease with
some who choose to reject
organized religion. If their beliefs
are as strong as they claim, they
sould be able to just shrug off
non believers as idiots. But no,
atheists must be punished for
their error, they must be killed
in some instances.

For me, this shows the intrinsic
fragility of the god religions.
They are so weak they cannot
stand even the slightest challenge.
Their beliefs are so flimsy they
have to chase down the naysayers
and wipe them out.

Anybody see this ad during the debate? It
promotes atheism. We're coming out in
droves, finally..

I am an atheist.

I think religion causes a lot of issues (some more than others).

Atheists are historically more moral (far less incarnated even scaled per capita).

I think the biggest advantage to being an atheist is not having to explain every position through the context of a religious viewpoint.

In N Europe, 90% of people claim
to be non religious. 50% of Jews
worldwide claim to doubt gods
existence, or are flat out non
believers. The more we learn from
science about how the world
works, the less need there is for
a god of superstition and religious
dogma. It's not that god is dead,
there was never a god to begin with.

panties in such a bunch over atheism.
If there was a god, wouldn't the
punishment for not believing be far
more than anything done on earth?

What god believers are really afraid
of, is that atheists are right. There is
no god and they're wasting their
time with all the mumbo jumbo and
superstitious nonsense. They're afraid
an atheist might effect true believers
and take money and bodies out of the
congregation. That cannot be allowed.

Very similar to how drug users behave. I noticed people using coke would only hang out with other coke users and not strait folks, something about needing affirmation. They know what they are doing is wrong, but as long as they have a support group of like minded believers they can continue the charade that it's ok.

People don't come up with xtianity in a vacuum. They might think there was a sun god or moon god or something. At least in those religions there was an actual object that could be verified as the deity. Looks like it's becoming a harder sell.

It's a cult like attitude. The harsher
cults forbid members from having

When you have a screwball religion
like those who worship a god, you
have to keep common sense from
leaking in at all costs. Common
sense is the enemy of all the god
religions.

Some of us are okay with this being a cold, lonely world. Others are not.
