Protege

Is this offensive? We were discussing (a Jewish attorney and I) what constitutes “sundown” for the Sabbath (in the context of a child visitation schedule case) — I then asked him how the "sundown" is calculated for Jews who live above the Arctic circle where it is 6 months of sunlight — the attorney laughed and said he never thought of that before, that he would ask his rabbi tomorrow and that he does not think many Jews settle above the Arctic Circle — I replied, yeah I have not heard of many Jews settling there — the Protege then pokes his head out of his office and tells me that I shouldn’t say things like that as he has a conference room full of attorneys who might be offended by my comment — WHAT THE F???

P.S. - I just passed by the conference room and there was nobody in there but the Protege

Ace, you re way too passive. When are you going to start standing up for yourself? An attorney should never be this passive.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent.

I have had the sundown discussion with my religious friends years ago! They decided to go someplace due south to the nearest city or town below the arctic circle and use their times. But there is no exact way to do this of course. Same concept in space travel.

I was working a Bar Mitzvah this time of year a few years ago. I remember because the woman we were dealing with said we had to wait to start. Nice woman, told us to get some food. But she was for some reason dancing around explaining there were a few very Orthodox in the group. I asked, "sundown" and she then said that was it. I got some food but was wondering what the big secret was.

As to space travel, what about if we colonize the moon? Sun never goes down or else never comes up.

"Darkside of the moon" refers to the side we can't see, as the moon's rotation matches its orbit. It still rotates, therefore all sides get sun.

OT, two fingers and bounce remains the solution.

Ace this is your life now. Wow.

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

So The Owner called me into the conference room to go over a brief I have been editing (I did not write this brief, it was written by an appellate attorney we deal with and The Owner will slap his name on it - but I have done the editing and have been dealing with the printer (for this particular type of brief, we use an outside pricing service) — so, apparently, the outside printer rep put my name on the back of the brief (I assume she figured since I was the one she was dealing with that I was the one that wrote it) — so, The Owner calls me into the conference room and turns to the page with my name on it and crosses it out violently, inserts his name and draws a giant star next to his name and tells me putting my name on the brief is “inexcusable” - I informed him the outside printer rep did it and I had not see this new version she sent over - he dismissed me and 5 minutes later called me back into the conference room to reiterate that I should have never put my name on the brief and now, since he already sent it to the client (who told him to do that…considering it is not even the final version???) he will have a lot of explaining to do as to why I felt the need to put my name on it — uhmmmmm, hello McFly, I did not put my name on it - the outside printer rep did — Ughhhhh - Happy Friday!

This guy sounds like a deadly mix of senile and immature.
