Everything must be going swimmingly at
work, you never say anything about it now.
Are you and protodick best friends now,
lunch together every day?

So you and protoprick now play golf
on weekends and talk office gossip
around the water cooler while making
fun of the elderly owner? Wow, what
a turnaround.

How did you extrapolate to that from what I said?

You never complain about him anymore,
so I just assumed you and him are best
buds now. You mean you're not?

He's just bored and needs you to entertain him.

went to nothing. Ace is holding

So the Owner came into my office about 20 minutes ago and said he “needed to talk to me” - considering I got a haircut over the weekend, I assumed I was going to be told the haircut was not firm-approved - alas, that was not the issue - apparently, the Protege brought his concern to the Owner about the draft briefs I give him having typos and grammatical errors

Firstly, I am the only attorney in the office that types all his own work - all the others dictate to the secretaries but, when I was hired, the Owner specifically asked if I would be able to type my own briefs and that seemed to be a “selling point” during my interview

Secondly, the last time he accused me of this, he did it on an email blast and then, when I replied back showing that the typos did not exist on the version I sent out but somehow appeared after he got his hands on it, there was silence

Thirdly, why not come to me and tell me face-to-face? Why go tattle-tale to the Owner about some (I assume) false claim of typos and grammatical errors - he is definitely, as the kids say “flexing” on me

That is not to say the Owner did not throw in a dig of his own as he reiterated that he wanted me to run all emails I send by him for prior-approval - apparently, on Friday, I sent one out without his approval ( despite his telling me how to word it ) and, upon his review said, it made me sound like an “idiot” (it didn’t - he is being overly critical thanks to the Protege’s false claims of typos and, I know this so I did not take it to heart)

The first 3 weeks back were great - it now seems that the pendulum is swinging back - let’s hope it reaches some form of equilibrium

Go home for the afternoon. Leave now. Don't say a word.

When you get back, act as though nothing happened. Tell the owner that will be the new policy. The crown-prince starts with you over silly stuff, you are done for the day.
