Predictit has the betting odds now for the 2028 Democrat nominee for President. No surprise that Newsom is the leader. But AOC is the SECOND favorite!
On the Republican side Vance is a much bigger favorite, with Rubio as second choice.

I never thought Obama would win his first term. Or Trump either time. But I feel(gulp) there is no way AOC could win a national election.

AOC only needs to win the Independents. I could see her running with Newsome as a Vice. She will pick up all the Democrats. She actually might pick up more Democrats than Newsome, but he is the more viable candidate overall for a general election, IMO.

I don't know who else will be in the field.

Some of it will depend on who the Republican candidate is. Democrats will play it safe if the Republican chosen seems a solid threat.

Obama was given push, I remember hearing them mention him the night Bush won in 2004. He was not a huge surprise. McCain was put up as a jobber, he got the nomination via crossovers in open primaries. Hillary was a bit like Apollo Creed in the primaries, walking around with a "doesn't he know he is not supposed to win" attitude. She did not learn and 8 years later had the same attitude towards Trump. The woman had everything handed to her since she married Bill and she screwed it up every time.

Look for AOC to fade same as Howard Dean did. If she gets the nomination Vance will make mincemeat out of her. She will make a fool of herself, he will just need to look normal as he does now. She would defeat herself.
