Just numbers. Just took my father in law to Bills game. 85. Had a great time. Enjoyed the Duffs wings after. He still works full time. Because he wants to. His wife of 59 years still plays bridge, is deeply involved in the art world. They took transatlantic cruise this year. Go to NYC and Chicago for art shows.

I have taken care of innumerable patients younger than me (59) that do not have a quality of life. The odds of having a good quality of life of course decreases as the number rises.

Friend just came back from visiting his 95 year old father in LA. He went over his dad's prescriptions. Was glad to see Viagra on the list!

Not to hijack but what is the appeal of Duff’s wings? Been there a few times locals loved em. New mall location doing killer business I’m told. But across the highway the brew pub was way better and even those are just what I’d call pretty good.

Now back to the regularly scheduled thread. Some do indeed do much some not. My mother keeps busy. Last few years of his life my dad was a pain to buy a gift for as he had few hobbies. Even when I’d tell him about this neat thing called the internet where he could find a hobby no dice. I won’t get that way. I might kill myself trying to build an atom smasher in my basement just for fun but I will not just do nothing. OTOH I know my health will not hold past a certain point. If I get diagnosed with something bad instead of a way declined life I’d rather go Walter White than Hector Salameca.

When you get to 70
you'll see it's not that bad. It's
80 that's the bad one.

My mother is almost 86 and doing quite well and traveling the world.

Knowing people who are 90 or
older, why would anybody want
to live that long. Their quality
of life is horrible.

I can't imagine wanting to live passed 65. Thankfully I don't plan on living that long.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

I think everyone says this until they get close to that age....

Gulp.... I just invested in some senior housing private equity REIT!

I still think it is a good investment..... Even if the percentage of seniors not going into senior housing increases, the number of seniors is increasing faster.

Not sure if it means other than builders overbuilt. There's also a trend of people needing to retire later, because they financially can't afford to quit as early, thus the retirement stage starts later.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

I suspect that you receive better advice. I went as far as exchanging emails with Mish around 06.

There may be a glut of senior housing, but with 10k per day signing up for SS, there is bound to be a glut of seniors wanting to downsize or needing assistance?

I'm sure my kids don't want me moving in with them, me either.
