According to the Jews, he most certainly did not. And it's their religion, they should know. Jesus loved the OT, he constantly referred to it. But now we're supposed to ignore the OT because a bunch of Catholics cobbled together a new testament and declared the old one 'fulfilled'. I don't think so, and the Jews for sure don't think so. You ask why do we look at pictures of nude women. You've been to Italy and Greece, there are nude statues of naked women literally everywhere. Why did those cultures obviously like to look at nude women, why don't you start there and work your way up to the 21st century and lets see how your moral condemnation holds up. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

My argument is that the bible objectifies and exploits women, as shown in the Lot story, and I could name others. We have to rely on our own human decency not to, as opposed to a book. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | The objectify and exploit women thing has always puzzled me. Take Playboy. They pay these women huge sums to pose naked, and the women seek it out and are quite cutthroat about it. They love doing it, women love showing off their bodies. Where is the exploitation, I don't see it. Many young women have been call girls to put themselves thru college to avoid getting huge student loans. How are they being exploited. When a woman seeks out this kind of work, when there are lots of other job opportunities available, how by any stretch is she being exploited. If she wants to show off her body in Playboy for money, why would I not look at her pics. She wants us to look at her or she wouldn't have done it, she wants to be objectified. When a woman with a good figure wears a skimpy bikini on a beach, she wants and expects to be an object of beauty that men look at. To deny this is true is to deny reality. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I'm sure you can continue to pick out verses as could I, however you make a huge mistake when you cobble just those together and call it the Bible. The Bible extols the dignity and infinite worth of every human person. However, the main point here is that you are correct we have to rely on our human decency to not objectify and exploit women, which the porn industry does. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

What code of decency controls the fashion industry? They seem to take a giddy delight in role reversal. |

I don't think so either. Where you get these crazy ideas is beyond me. You can't have a New Testament without the foundations upon which it is built. The Old Testament ha never and could never be ignored, to do so is to ignore and not understand Christ.
The argument is not about if the female body is beautiful. It most certainly is. That is why in art it is women who represent things like the virtues. I have to laugh a little if you think that pornography of today is comparable to the are of Italy and Greece. You didn't really mean to suggest that pornography today is a tasteful celebration of the female form, did you? Do you think people used to gather in museums or in the town square and masturbate to the statues that are there? If not, you might want to ask yourself what the difference is and what the intent of these beautiful works of art extolling an even more beautiful work of art were for. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Or the objectification and exploitation of men, thanks for the clarification. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Or as opposed to a woman looking at a man and thinking of him as a sex object or looking at a man and thinking of him as a wallet with minimal conversational skills? You speak of the porn industry. A good segment of the porn market are females and just about all of the porn executives are females. Female porn distributors don't think or feel anything about 'reducing a human being to a sex object' when they cash their paychecks. |

I would say a huge percentage of the Economy is dependent on objectification. I really wish someone would watch the French gender role reversal comedy on Netflix. Although it is a mature comedy, I think the Father would laugh at it. |

Yeah, I got the crazy idea from you. The OT is 'fulfilled', you just said it a few posts ago. Now you say it's not? Really?
The porn today isn't even comparable to the porn 50 years ago, let alone to ancient times. The very first profitable business in photography was producing tintypes of naked women. Very tasteful, very tame. Yet considered hugely pornographic in the mid 1800's by the Xtion run moral country. They even blasted the nude statues in Rome that you seem to love so much. Point is, porn is in the eye of the beholder. It's an opinion, not a moral given. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
