Ridley Scott is getting up there in age and he seems to always have a lot of movies in development so I'm not holding my breath for this one. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

I agree 100%. The whole series has been much much more than a scary monster movie. It is science fiction at its best. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

It looks like David is releasing the black canisters (described as WMDs in Prometheus) on the Engineer's home world. They are advertising this as an Alien sequel, but I am much more interested in the unanswered questions left over from Prometheus... “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

Supposedly, pairs of happily coupled settlers travel to a lush distant planet as the first people from Earth to settle another planet. They come across an "Engineers" ship with alien pods... and what usually happens when alien pods and people get together happens. The trailer in the theater didn't reveal any connection to "Prometheus". |

I think they basically abandoned the Prometheus storyline as unprofitable. There is an obligatory tie up of the story, but I am betting it is about 10% of the running time of the sequel. Prometheus earned $403.4 million worldwide on a $130m budget while Alien Resurrection earned $161.4 million worldwide on a $75m budget in 1997 killing the original franchise with original films in 1979, 1986, and 1992. That certainly isn't bad financial performance, but I think the studios feel like a return to the original monsters could make this franchise a gold mine. |

Yeah. I suspect the start of the movie will wrap up the Prometheus storyline and then we'll meet our new characters. I'm kind of wondering if the planet they land on in this one is the Engineers' home planet, years after David wipes them all out with the black goo canisters from Prometheus. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

If it bombs, well, what do you expect when there's this massively popular movie to contend with. If it does ok, well, that was against effing Star Wars! And if it's a hit, well, we can dream :) Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

Episode 8 was originally scheduled to open next month and Alien Covenant was supposed to open in August. When Disney pushed Episode 8 to Christmas, Fox jumped on the opportunity and moved Alien Covenant up to May. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |
