Shoot. I'm sure my fellow nerds are mourning his loss. No disrespect to the departed, but comic books were never my cup of tea. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

That would have been neat. The NPR news item mentioned that he never tried to monetize the voice of HAL. "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." Daniel Patrick Moynihan |

Same here. A bunch of the Marvel movies I can take or leave, too - I like them or not for their action and movie-ness, not their marvel-ness. My facebook feed is full of Stan Lee posts from my friends, though - I already knew he was big with them. "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." It's all I read until I discovered The Hardy Boys at age 11. I loved comic books, they gave me the love of reading. That and my dad and grandfather and great grandfather all read constantly. Sit in their rockers with big magnifying glasses and read for hours every evening. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Jack Kirby deserves as much credit, but Stan’s was the “voice” you heard in your head when you read a Marvel comic. It’s too bad that his family squbbled over his care and management of his significant financial interests after his dementia got bad. It spoils his legacy as a maverick artist defending the everyday hero. |

I was an outcast amongst my peer computer nerd friends because I never read a comic book, never watched any super hero movies, thought Star Trek and Star Wars were awful, and I watched sports passionately. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent. |

I loved RR and Nancy and Dennis the Menace and Archie and Superman and Batman and Supergirl and so many others. My library had a free exchange, trade one comic for another. So I always had a fresh supply. Give me a stack of comics and a summer day and I was happy as a clam.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
