Good thing Stinky is gone, he'd be turning
blue over this. 80% of the country was
thrilled with the speech, that includes Dems,
CNN poll.

Or did you "see it on TV?"

Who wrote Trump's speech?

Last night he said it's time to end the trivial fights. Er, what? Funniest line . Trump is not going off the rails again. This I got to see
"Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP.

That is absolutely true.

Works both ways. Countless idiots have lost their jobs for sharing racist memes on social media about the Obamas over the last 8 years. And they deserved it.

True, but this guy was one of those liberal non-deplorable types.

You can't count on deplorables being smart enough not to say bad things. Liberals are much better than everyone else.

Just ask them.

I don't think what he said was bad. (It was absolutely true).

And it certainly doesn't rise to the level of the racist nonsense said about the Obamas.

But the guy's employer did have every right to fire him. I won't argue that.

Not the same person who writes his tweeter feed.

If he had any respect for the office he holds, he wouldn't hold it.

Where do you get 80% from, is that some sort of rounding error?

Good things happen when he sticks to what someone writes for him, and not say things in the way he usually says things.

The speech was very characteristic of a presidential speech, and not typical of other Trump speeches.

And let's not forget it was mostly Republicans who watched it last night. That skews the poll in Donald's favor.

Donald did himself well. He got a favorable news cycle out of it. He's got the fervent righties shamelessly claiming "best ever."

But speeches don't matter - actions do. And Donald's actions have failed bigly over the past month. How's that Muslim ban working out?

This is where having common sense comes in. Of course Presidents use people to help them make a point and to get support. I think it happens, well, almost every time there is a speech like this. You just have to be smart enough to not say some things. It isn't like this is just some idea Trump dreamed up--lining people up to attend and then mention them in the speech...

Did anyone say anything about that? Does one being wrong make something else right?

Compilation from Right and Left:

CHRIS WALLACE: (outdoor noise) I feel like tonight, Donald Trump became the president of the United States.

ALEX CASTELLANOS: (b-roll noise) I think he became president tonight.

WOLF BLITZER: A very polished performance by the president of the United States…

CHRIS STIREWALT: He did sound like the president, look like the president, act like the president.

GAYLE KING: (outdoor noise) Dare we say that for the first time, I’m hearing people say he looked and sounded presidential.

ANA NAVARRO: …sounded presidential for the first time.

MATT GUTMAN: Wow, he sounded so presidential.

ANDREA MITCHELL: The tone, the presidential demeanor…

MITCH MCCONNELL: Donald Trump did indeed become presidential tonight.

TOM BROKAW: (b-roll noise) Tonight, this is easily the most presidential that he’s been.

DANA PERINO: The best speech I have ever seen him give. This was so presidential.

VAN JONES: He became president of the United States in that moment. Period. If he finds a way to do that over and over again, he’s gonna be there for eight years.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.
