They look at it as a huge benefit for 2020. Pelosi and the Dems will try to cause so much trouble in the next two years, not pass any legislation, constantly harass Trump, he will be running against a do nothing congress in 2020. Obama did it in 2012. The House was against Trump anyway, what's the difference who runs it. It's the Senate that's the cherry on top. All Trump's judges will go thru, if the House is stupid enough to impeach and really piss off Trump's base, the Senate will keep him in office. Election was a win/win for Trump. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Obama had a friendly press, fawning over anything he did. Trump has gotten >90% negative coverage. Obama lost over twice as many congressional seats in 2010. Anyone who Obama campaigned for tended to lose. The candidates who embraced Trump tended to win. Control flip aside, Trump had a slightly better than average midterm. Pelosi comes in with 31% approval. She will be the gift that keeps on giving. The base has not left Trump at all as the media said it has. The President is a fink. |

SOOPOO Member since: Feb 19, 2014 Threads: 22 Posts: 4157 | I'd say it is a win for the country. Dems happy they win the House. Repubs happy they extend Senate lead, so they don't have to worry about 1 or 2 using leverage on the Republican Senate majority. (See Flake, Collins...) All 3 will have to work together or get no bills passed. Unlikely for anything substantive. No bills passed tends to be good... no bill is ever passed not spending more money we don't have...... 2-1 I think is always best , not 3-0. As ams noted, I am mostly happy Gillum lost! |

Definitely definitely not a tsunami. But the Dems made a few modest gains. Among 36 governor's races, Democrats gained 7 governor seats. Democrats gained 35 seats in the U.S. House. Among state legislatures, 6 chambers flipped from Republican control to Democrat, and a couple chambers went from red to purple. Nationwide, over 350 state legislative seats flipped from GOP to Dem. This will have an impact on gerrymandering "redistricting." I'll just pretend the U.S. Senate doesn't exist. |

I am not at all disappointed that the republicans lost the house, it had too many never Trump republicans and RINOs. Now all will see how incompetent the democrats are when they are in control of the house. Let's go Brandon |

Here's the thing. It's a disaster for a president to have the House and not the Senate. The next best thing to having all of congress is the way it turned out. Who cares what the House does, the president has an overwhelming majority in the Senate. Trump going to all those rallies was what did it. In 2010 Obama hurt his party when he campaigned, he lost both houses yugely. Trump is in a very good position now for 2020. Pelosi and the hate mongers will wear out their welcome very fast and even the Dem base will get sick to death of screaming TDS all day every day. They really can't stop themselves. It was pointed out today this is why we still have a good gov't 250 years later. The founders wrote gridlock into the Constitution, they want it moving as slowly as possible. A glacial Congress with lots of rules cannot change anything quickly, that was the intent. If they try and impeach, even better. As Dick Morris points out, that was a big mistake in 1998. Clinton had his highest poll numbers after he was impeached, Algore would have won in 2000 if not for the fluke in FL. If the impeach Trump he will win in a landslide in 2020. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I used to be a republican. Voted for Bob Dole Its a party that does not want to be inclusive anymore. AZ says its a party with a big tent but the reality, the hard right revels in the losses of some republicans and Fleaswatter is being honest about it The republican party has changed Deficit exploding Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

You're that old? I thought you were a Millennial, you seem soooo young. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
