And apparently he'll use the mandate to push through a 35% tariff on foreign goods, though we'll see if Congress is willing to go along with the idea.

I hope he does that. It will be fun to see him twisting like a pretzel to blame the resultant economic depression on Obama.

It'll be interesting see how he uses it. Earlier today he spent an hour in a private meeting discussing climate change with Al Gore.

Trump: Algore, how do you want to
lay off on Global Warming?

Algore: How much are you offering,
Mr President?

He doesn't need congress.

Wow couldn't be the real Trump because he doesn't consult or discuss I know it must be true because all the lefties on the board have told me so. I wonder how many times Obama had a real conversation with a climate change skeptic? Probably about the same number of times the sheeples on this board will have a serious discussion on the subject and not just throw insults at those that don't agree with them.

Still snowing in Hawaii, more evidence
that Algore is a raving nutjob. If anything,
we're moving into another mini ice age
like they had in Europe 500 years ago.

??????
Snow is common in Hawaii
The elevations of Hawaii’s mountains are so high, the snowfall has less to do with the premise that this proves the planet is cool, and everything to do with the amount of precipitation. And climate change actually wreaks havoc on the amount of moisture in the air. Storms get bigger. Rains get more intense. And, occasionally, snowfall actually grows. The very thing that conservatives are saying disproves climate change actually supports it.

I don't doubt that he has a mandate among the rich white people who will benefit the most from his plan, on the backs of the middle class and the poor, widening the wealth gap along the way and exploding the national debt.

He's already announced he'll use his mandate to spend $1 trillion on infrastructure. I'm a bit surprised that Rush Limbaugh is supporting it. (The key is to call it an "investment." Don't call it "spending." Democrats "spend," Republicans "invest." Got it?)

And apparently he'll use the mandate to push through a 35% tariff on foreign goods, though we'll see if Congress is willing to go along with the idea.

Lower corporation taxes and raise import tariffs, hope the economy will run of itself. I suspect tariffs will start a round of many more trade deals being asked for....

Does the Orange Man know he can't just impose tariffs, not even on Mexican goods?

As to Mexico (and oft overlooked Canada) there is a free trade agreement, NAFTA, negotiated by two presidential administrations and ratified by Congress.

As to the rest of the world, there is the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, now part of the World Trade Organization. I'm sure that's also a treaty ratified by congress.

Point is Thieving Donald can't just decree tariffs, as treaties ratified by Congress require, literally, an act of Congress to be disregarded.

Agreements only mean something if both sides agree to abide with them and are willing to accept any decisions against them. The US lumber industry has pushed and gotten counter veiling tariffs for years against Canadian soft wood lumber counter to NAFTA. Us arbitrators and legislators get to make the final decision and will ignore any outside arbitrators if it suits them. Canada won with the international arbitrators every time this has come up but the US wouldn't accept their decisions. Japan isn't any better. In these cases it is "seller beware".
