So you think that people don't experience the difficulty in living ethically and can change themselves without help? I don't think you are correct. I think we are all keenly aware of the sickness and we run around trying to find the cure. If not through God then it might be through a bottle, a casino, porn, or many other ways. The smartest people see through the lie that we can fix ourselves or that we can wish away our struggles by saying things like, "I'm perfect just the way I am.", or "I give my own life meaning." People are smarter than that and they always have been. As human beings we have always recognized we need help; from each other and from a higher power. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Why do you always go right to the extremist of extreme examples. There are 12 step programs for those people, and they all involve a 'higher power', which can be anything you like. People rarely change themselves, as you put it, they cope with who they are. They get by one day at a time. And we do give our own lives meaning, it doesn't come from the outside. You decided to latch onto the Church. Who did that if not you. There's no innate meaning to life, there are billions of them. Why can't you just be satisfied with yours and quit trying make others feel bad about their choices. Quit telling them they're losers at birth, that they're filthy sinners who need to be redeemed. Want to really help somebody? Be their friend, instead of the guy who scares them into submission with threats of eternal punishment for not living up to some gods expectations. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I imagine you will understand Original Sin or sin when I understand atheism. What I tell people is that they were made in God's image and likeness at birth filled with greatness and potential and that their ultimate destiny is to be happy forever in Heaven. I am their friend who promises them I will never judge them or condemn them, but will always forgive them. I will be with them and available to them at any time. I tell them they need not worry about eternal punishment because Jesus Christ has died for our sins, He has set us free, and that He accepts us for who we are and loves us unconditionally. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Yet you judge people here all the time. You just judged me in the thread about how I live my life is 'horrible and animalistic.' That's not judging me? You tell Gays all the time that they can't have sex with each other or they'll go to hell for a mortal sin. More judgement. That's all religious types do, is judge people. That's why they're so unpopular. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Nobody likes to be judged by people so obviously flawed as the Catholic Church, that's what's true. That's why Jesus was crucified, he was charged with being a public nuisance because he couldn't keep his judgemental mouth shut and people got sick of him. 'Holier than thou' doesn't look good on anybody. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

That's not a bad selling point, perhaps even given the exorbitant price of admission. The problem is that you don't publicize the nature and mechanics of heaven. That's apparently left to pop culture TV shows, comic books and movies. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

The after life isn't even mentioned in the OT, god punishes or rewards Jews in the here and now, not after death. It's a myth of the NT that heaven exists, but they go into no details about it. The Mormons expand on it somewhat, but heaven is a very vague place because it doesn't exist, of course. It's right next to Santa's north pole workshop, and just down the street from Nirvana. 'In most forms of Christianity, heaven is understood as the abode for the righteous dead in the afterlife' Those righteous people have to go somewhere, they get to hang out together for eternity, slapping themselves on their self righteous backs. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Do not judge lest you yourself be judged. Take the beam from your own eye so you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. This is just a small collection of the sayings of Jesus and the early Christians about judging others. I'm trying hard to ignore the vile blasphemy in your post but do you really think that they crucified the Lord because He annoyed them or they were sick of Him. Maybe what he said was true and that is what caused the most frustration to the people who were in charge and were judging everyone. Jesus came saying they should judge because they themselves were to be judged. It is ironic that you condemn Jesus for judging when He was in fact preaching against judgment. The problem is that for those who are wrong and know it their only response is that they are being unfairly judged. Your post above is proof of that. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |
