Yep, and whats good enough for the eye, speaking in terms of an evolutionary mechanism, is good enough for the brain, that which provides us with our intelligence, counsciousness, logic, and philosophy. "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." Daniel Patrick Moynihan |

No one is doubting that at all. It is humbling and amazing to know how we have the same origins and that we all need to work together. It is impossible to doubt though that we do indeed hold a very special place. What you and others are missing is what makes us human. We are not the fastest, strongest, our sense of smell is not the best, and our eyesight isn't as good as any bird. We are different than all the animals in that we wonder. You know we have been domesticating animals and even teaching the smarter ones how to communicate using sign language and the like. Never has an animal ever asked a question. Isn't that amazing. As the article says, Owls can see at night like nothing else yet they don't stargaze in wonder. Bloodhounds don't stop to smell the roses. As humans we look around and we see beauty not utility, at least we should! We hear music and appreciate symphonies and athletic feats done not to hunt or to earn a treat or the praise of someone. We are so outstanding and amazing and yes special. If this makes me human-centric, then guilty as charged. However being human-centric doesn't mean I go around kicking puppy dogs. It means I recognize my special place in creation and protect the other animals and plants who have no reason why they are here and really don't care. We are in the world but not of it. To recognize this is to see the beauty and true nature of mankind. To miss this is to wander blind in this amazing and wonderful world we have been given. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

What? They ask questions all the time, to each other. A wolf pack always has a member on guard at night, that guard has a way of communicating that only wolves understand. Bee's do the same, so do dolphins. They ask questions in the way they ask them. We don't understand them and they don't understand us. {q] We hear music and appreciate symphonies And you think animal don't play and express pleasure? You know they do. Do you know why dogs are mans best friend? They feel and express at 30 of the same emotions we do. "We have now come to understand that dogs possess all of the same brain structures that produce emotions in humans. Dogs have the same hormones and undergo the same chemical changes that humans do during emotional states. Dogs even have the hormone oxytocin, which, in humans, is involved with feeling love and affection for others. With the same neurology and chemistry that people have, it seems reasonable that dogs also have emotions that are similar to ours." They feel and express joy, fear, anger, disgust, love, impatience, and many others. Am I superior to my dog? How could I be.
So is every other creature, even insects. That you and your god feel more special than they are is just your ever present narcissism talking again. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Whoa there horsey. Nobody is saying that animals don't communicate, of course they do. Does the wolf pack sit around and talk about life at night? Do the bees vote one who is going to be the next queen and talk about if there was a better way to harvest the pollen?
Of course they do. They have emotions and passions too.
Because you are asking this question!!! You also happen to be typing this question on a computer and transmitting it around the world in a way that can be understood by other human beings engaged in a thoughtful debate about the big questions of the universe, why we are here, and is there a God?
It is not narcissism it is truth. Narcissism would be to say that because I am superior than the animals, insects, etc. they should be used by me as I see fit without a care for them and their well-being. It is not narcissism to think highly of yourself. It is narcissism to degrade or devalue others. It is the obvious superiority we enjoy as human beings that makes us more responsible to care for all life on this planet and its environment, something we seem to be failing at. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

So you think because I can do things animals can't, that makes me superior? My dog can smell a can of tuna when I open it from across the room. He can also lick his balls, Can you do either of those things? This is what god religions do. They convince people they're better than everything on the planet, they're special, god loves them best. If you don't think this is egocentric and narcissistic, just hang out with them for awhile. The stink of self worship is all over them. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Again the question is: does the ability to do these things make one superior? Is not the measure of greatness more than the ability to lick one's private parts? “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Why not? Humans without their tools are not much 1 on 1. But we are a whole package. If one is talking about the ability to dominate, we have it over every thing else. I think we can literally tilt the Earth, given we ever had to figure it out. We weren't always the dominate species in that way. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

I'm pretty sure we were a sub species at one point. I just think it's correct to say we are now though. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

That is an interesting question and if helps to clarify that I'm not talking about domination being the thing that really matters. What really matters is the ability to think and wonder and question and discover truth. We have always had that and therefore we were always radically different than the rest of all life. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

You're doing what all bigots do, demeaning another so you can elevate yourself. You so yearn to be the apple of your made up gods eye, that it's necessary to make all other creatures less special than you. Native American cultures respected nature and everything in it, they in no way felt superior. They thanked an animal when they killed it, for giving it's life. A god person would never do that, he believes the animal has no soul, his only reason for existing is to be eaten by superior man. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
