The garden survived until the flood completely destroyed it. There is no place on the Earth today that would correspond to the same spot of land, originally it was one continent (Gonwanda?) that was broken up and basically turned upside down.

No, that's my hometown =)

I think you're thinking of Pangaea (sp?)

Asimov was so prolific. It's amazing what some people can accomplish, "I think I'll write a bible commentary in my spare time, take a brake from all that science writing and speaking and"..., maybe those kind of people never sleep.

Yeah maybe Gonwanda is a country in Africa? Or the name of a female gorilla in some zoo?

1) we can locate most spots on Gondwana, and Pangea, as they correspond to today's map. It's how we know the way the continents have been moving.

2) Gondwana formed over 500 million years ago (continents move very slooooooowly). This would mean Jehovah created two humans, and only two, then expelled them from his garden, then froze developments for millions and millions of years while the continents moved, then started them up again.

2.1) Gondwana existed a long, long time before mammals first evolved. The fossil record simply does not support humans having evolved before all other mammals.

Awesome. I wasn't aware of a "pre-Pangaea". You may have just killed the rest of my night for me =)

He also wrote a guide to Shakespeare and an annotated version of "Alice." Among 800+ other books or so, or maybe more. he kept count, but I doubt anyone else did. Though a count may exist at Boston University, where his papers have been collected (I wonder if they are still open to the public?), and where he taught biochemistry for several years.

Modern scholars hypothesize, as Clarke speculated in the 1960s, that Asimov wrote four books at once, employing four typewriters, both hands and both feet.

He was also an atheist and a capital-L Liberal.

I guess He thought his Jewishness was strictly a cultural thing.

I've read the two volumes of his autobiography, the thick volume of his memoirs, the book of some of his correspondence, as well as many personal anecdotes contained in various essays. Among other things, he regarded the Bible as a collection of Hebrew mythology from rather early on in his life.
