Anyway in regard to this issue it is a huge mistake to let either political social views to be the sole source of your conclusions. Science is the only objective help we have to help navigate the emotional issues surrounding abortion. Does it not bother you in the least that your opinion goes against science?

Now I think I understand what you were asking before. Isn't every cell living in a sense? However, when these two living cells combine something extraordinary happens that is far and above the sum of the parts. What these two living cells produce the moment they join together is a miracle!

No, but science does tell us that the instant a sperm fertilizes an egg a unique and amazing human person begins developing.

Not to jump on the wrong bandwagon here, but I believe the argument is human life begins at conception, an argument which is then stated in shorthand and with a loss of precision that life begins at conception.

So non-human-being but alive egg + sperm at the moment of conception = human being.

At least argue about that, and not whether or not individual organic cells are alive.

That'll quickly devolve into an argument about what life is, if viruses are alive, or if various protiens are alive.

Then there are various inorganic things which fit various definitions of life.

No, I'd rather argue about if science agrees that (human) life begins at conception (which is still a matter of debate) how is that reconciled with the bible stating that life begins with a breath, abortion was practiced during the time of Jesus, he didn't speak out against it, and the penalty for accidentally causing a miscarriage was a fine and not a charge of murder.

I think it is clear that it was not always believed that (human) life started at conception.

Not sure why anyone would think that, other than I don't buy when they sell what cannot be proven. But life beginning at conception is such a simple concept. Any liveborn creature can be taken back to this point, when they started to exist. I realize pro-abortion types deny this because they are uncomfortable otherwise, but it cannot be escaped.

1) No single cell is or can be conscious, including an embryonic cell.

2) It takes a long time for the brain to develop to the point that consciousness is even possible.

3) By this reasoning, abortion should be able to take place before the second trimester.
