Pacomartin Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 1068 Posts: 12569 | I realize this doesn't mean much to many people since they don't watch broadcast TV anymore. But the broadcast season is coming to a close, and the announcements will be made shortly about which shows get axed. Many shows have already been renewed or cancelled (or simply terminated). I know EB liked Battle Creek, but it had poor ratings and is on the "predict cancel" list.
Series Already Ended/Cancelled. Unliked Seinfeld which ended because Jerry did not want to do it anymore, these series this year that ended had bad ratings, or bad raings relative to the cast salary. So the networks/production company agreed to do a final season. CBS The Mentalist ENDED CBS Two and a Half Men ENDED CBS The Millers CANCEL ABC Manhattan Love Story ABC Revenge ABC Selfie Fox Glee ENDED Fox Gracepoint Fox Mulaney Fox Red Band Society NBC A to Z NBC Allegiance NBC Bad Judge NBC Parenthood ENDED NBC Parks & Recreation ENDED |

Of those 10, at least 5 I have heard of either because they are old or retreads. And of the 10 I have watched maybe 2 on my own, and seen 1-2 others because someone else was watching when I was in the room. The President is a fink. |

Times have changed. Was channel surfing weekend afternoon. A couple of the major networks had infomercials for weekend afternoon programming. Wow, how far they have fallen resorting to infomercials during weekend afternoon to pay the bills :-( Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

Backstrom had too many characters in it, it'd have been much more entertaining with less of an ensemble. Constantine had just about found it's pace at the end of the tenth episode... but it died on the first half dozen. Brooklyn 99 is a shiny star in a sea of filth. And I must cancel my cable today... It's about the struggle to build the first laptop computer in Dallas in the early 80's and they capture the era perfectly. I blasted thru the first season on Netflix. It has everything, sex, drama, and a lot of tech info. Good writing, good acting, I was hooked after the pilot. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I was going to put that in the "Netflix" thread but have only made 3 or 4 episodes so far. If you remember that time you will love it, if you are Gen Y or after I think not so much as it is not as period engrossing as "Mad Men." Thought the 80s may be the 60s to the same group? Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | I like it because I wasn't into computers at all in the 80's, I barely knew they existed. I'm amazed at how advanced they were. I got one in 92 solely to get on the net, such as it was then. My wife should have had one early for her business, I had to drag her into it kicking and screaming in 98. She was terrified of computers, but took to it like a duck to water. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
