I like vitamin D. Personally it seems to do good things for me.
I am aware that some of those studies have poor methodology. For instance, incoming hospital patients having low levels of vitamin D. Well of course they do. They probably have low levels of everything.

Now we have this expose of a conflict of interest and financial sponsorship by vitamin manufacturers. Well, I'm not going to cash Hollick as a villain quite yet.

See: NY Times for a more complete analysis.

I take vitamin D suplement during the winter when I go weeks with little sun exposure. Don't know if it does any good.

Wow. Just noticed this. Obviously it should be "cast Hollick as a villain" but "cash" does seem an appropriate slip to have made when we are talking about five million dollars.

By the way, this Post Prandial Somnolence has to end somehow. I just had my pumpkin and flax seed granola w/ milk as a light breakfast and I drifted off for over an hour almost right away. Gots to stop I tell you. Its gots to stop.

Blood sugar increases after we eat. If it rises too high, as it would with insulin resistance or diabetes, it can cause sleepiness. The crash and burn of low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia, can also induce a nap.

Stop eating so many carbs.

I'd love to, but if I buy eggs (which are high in protein) they tend to spoil and make cleaning up difficult. If I buy meat, it tend to be tough. Even stew meat with salad dressing marinade stays tough. I do try to eat chicken or fish from those little cans but the mayo and bread adds to the carbohydrates. There just doesn't seem to be much I know how to make that is plain protein with only a bit of carbs. I do have some sausages in the freezer which I plant to defrost soon now that I have a larger frying pan in which I can fit both the sausages and the eggs so I don't have much to wash.

I eat an avocado and a can of sardines
for lunch every day. For dinner it's
chicken in the pressure cooker and
some cauliflower and turnips
Brussells sprouts in there after
chicken is done. Hardly any carbs.

Or I make cheeseburgers with lettuce
instead of wheat buns and fry some
Daikon and turnip french fries. Very
low carb

Or I make pork chili with veggies in
the pressure cooker and eat it for
3 days. Any meat cooked is a pressure
cooker is never tough.

If you can't afford an Instant Pot
(pressure cooker) apply online for
a Target credit card. They will give
one even to people with bad credit.
Order a pressure cooker and you'll
use it almost every day.

And don't say you're scared to use
them. The modern electronic ones
have 4-5 safeguards and it's
impossible for them to explode like
your moms used to do.

I was canning fish and trying to chop wood at the same time, and forgot I had one on the stove building pressure. It must have been blowing steam for ten minutes before I remembered. The pressure relief on top works, but you can still scare the crap out of yourself if you are multi tasking with a bomb.

Sounds like yours is the best place to eat except for on Progresso days.

When I got this last year it was
with the thought of probably
sending it back. Turned out
to be the best appliance I've
ever had. Use it almost every
day. Even makes the best hard
boiled eggs that peel great
every time. The pressure cooking
makes the shell just slide off
when you peel them.

I gots me two slow cooker crock pots. One is a tiny little thing that was a freebie from a casino, the other is a tiny little thing that was an impulse purchase from a supermarket or something. Ain't never used either. I also gots a small thing that was an InstaPot that I bought because someone told me it could make limoncello and that is one smooth tasting afternoon booze. I ain't never used it neither. Someone told me its subject to some product recall thingie, I don't know for sure.

I also gots me a blender, a few lids, some fermentation air locks and water locks and some other stuff all being held hostage by my former landlady along with my medical records and recollections 'bout that most recent attempt on my life. Now I admit I ain't got no space here for any more kitchen toys and I gots me a microwave that has a mind of its own as well as a dishwasher I can't figure out. So maybe its a good thing that I can't get access to these culinary toys but she won't budge, always finds some excuse to hang on to them.

As to the diet. I may try some of it. Sardines? I don't know. Even with tuna I have to buy it as tuna in water, not oil 'cause its just too much oil for me otherwise.
Sardines come in oil and in mustard, I think. I'll try to find out.

I do like Brussel Sprouts but always thought they were carbohydrates. Bought an avocado few weeks back but made the mistake of freezing it and couldn't find it. It was rock hard leather even after it thawed out. Had to toss it. Only bought it because that half naked girl that had just been bailed out of jail bought one.

Bought some salads recently along with some raspberry vinagraitte stuff but it tastes terrible and wilts too fast.

Bought a loaf of bread too but I don't really like the tomato and mayonnaise sandwiches I need to use up the bread before it goes stale too.
