An Idiot Abroad, a Ricky Gervais idea to send his
dopey pal around the world. You get to see how
real people live in China and India and Peru. You
get to see why you would never want to visit
there. In the second season he visits the US and
Route 66. It's a startling contrast that even the
poorest people here live drastically better than
the other countries he visited.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

The Club of Rome was organized in 1968 to establish a new world order by the year 2000.

In my mind, it was the first of the great think tanks. At the time the world population was about half of what it is today.

I do remember them saying what would happen if the world aspired to be at the American poverty level.

I see that Paco already started a thread on it last month, but Black Mirror is amazing. The first episode was just jaw dropping. The episodes are related only by theme. They revolve around media and/or technological impacts on near future society.

Original, provocative, and thought inducing. But really really disturbing.

I think if Fox had let Joss Whedon take those kind of chances with Dollhouse, it would have been even better. As it was the executives were very uncomfortable with the correlation to human trafficking. As the one police officer character states in the series, these customers are rich. They can afford to pay for sex. Why would they spend much more to have human beings with their memories wiped and a new one implanted, just to have sex with them?

Poor people here would be considered
middle class in about half the world.
Downright rich in others.

The first half of the last season of Madmen.
One of the 10 greatest shows ever on TV.
I fear the guy falling from the building
in the opening credits of every show is
Don Draper in the very last episode. I
really hope I'm wrong.

November Man. A fast paced spy thriller with
Pierce Brosnan and an aging Bond type. I
enjoyed it.

Pierce Brosnan in "The Matador". Unfortunately the promotions for this movie made it seem like a James Bond type thriller or a comedy, it is really a study in psychology as two men (an assassin and a businessman) meet in a Mexico City hotel, both at a crossroads in their life. They call it a comedy, but it would be a black comedy.

America: The Story of Us. History Channel 2010. One
of the best US history shows ever done for TV. I
majored in history in college, I love shows like
this. I keep vowing to watch more documentaries,
fiction is just a waste of time.

Silver Linings Playbook, I lasted 20min. 92%
on Rotten Tomatoes, 8 Oscar nom's. I hated
the main character after just 12 min of his
self centered BS. Actually, I was done when
he threw the Hemingway book out the
glass window and went on and on about
it. Douche bag deluxe.
