The vodka is the biggest expense. 3 months of vodka about $200, but it's the most important. Everything except the vodka was on sale. The advantage of a pantry is everything is right in front of you, unlike hidden in a cupboard. I learned from my wife's parents that you just ignore exp dates. They lived in MT for 30 years and had a big pantry in the basement. They bought cans on sale in big quantities. In their 80's the would go to the pantry and get a can of soup or beans or tuna or whatever. I looked at a couple of cans and they were expired. I told the mom, Pearl, that the cans had expired more than 12 years ago. She just shrugged her shoulders and said they never had a problem. Indeed, a ship on the Mississippi went down in 1865 loaded with canned goods. It was found in the 1970's and many of the cans were tested and all were found to be just fine, no bacteria, completely edible. So screw the exp dates. Here's a couple pics of my progress. Lots of room left. I bet I can get 4 months worth in this 110 cubic foot room. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Natural disasters happen. Better not to be a whiner who ends up in a shelter complaining about the food there. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Peace of mind. Having 3-4 months worth of supplies effects your subconscious, try it. I feel a sense of fulfillment every time I add something. At least I won't starve to death, my inner self tells me. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Mirrors, color, design shapes, placement. Well, if you want people to go "wow", you would look at that as an idea anyway. I'm sure you don't want to tell people its gimongus size and have them go, "oh, it doesn't look THAT big". That'd be a waste of time. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

Yeah, has nothing to do with people. I don't have company; this is for me and my boy. It needs to be actually big for the big fish I intend to keep. They unfortunately cannot survive in an illusion ;) I'm gonna run with the acrylic idea, see what I can do with it. I suppose I'll look at it as a cheap dry run. The tank will be semi-permanent, as in, can be disassembled and removed should I move. If it's a hit, maybe then I can start saving for the glass, as I WILL be able to replace things as needed. Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |
